Liked: My wife and I had a great stay at Happy Travel guesthouse in Ulaanbaatar, and would like to recommend this place to other travellers. The hostel owner met us at the trainstation when we arrived and drove us to the station when we left. We had a nice and clean room. They were very serviceminded and helpful during our stay and they also arranged a trip to their campsite in the mountains, east of the city. The campsite is a nice hotel close to the Djengis Khan monument and to a river where it's possible to go fishing in the summer.

Liked: Extremely helpful owners that live in the same apartment as the hostel is located in. We got a private room although it was listed as a dorm on hostelbookers. The owners arrange tours and can even come with you on those. They also met us at the train station when we arrived and drove us to the apartment/hostel.

Disliked: The location is really close to the trainstation but to the city centre it's about 20 minutes walk.

Liked: This is a couple's private apartment and they rent out 2 rooms. They're really nice and helpful--driving us to the train station and even getting our luggage into our compartment! The apartment is quiet and has a fully equipped kitchen and bathroom. This wouldn't be a place to meet other backpackers, but it's a great option if you're a couple or business traveler and don't want to stay in a crowded hostel. It's a 15 minute walk or short bus ride into the city center, but there are plenty of stores and restaurants nearby, too. Just note that it's impossible to find this place by yourself, so be sure to arrange pick-up.
