atmosphere: just amazing, exactly how you imagine a "secret garden". Super friendly staff! Location is great, close to the main street (where colectivos can be found) and to the bus station.
We stayed in quite a few hotels during our vacation in the Yucatan. We stayed at much 'fancier' places but this hotel was our favorite! It has everything you need, the NICEST staff (Thanks Maura!), and it is a really beautiful place.

There are two things I liked about this hostel: the fact that you could use bicycles for free and the location. It's a short taxi ride to the bus station but you can ride your bike anywhere; restaurants, the beach, Tulum ruins, etc. it is also right across the street from a big supermarket.
Carlos was very helpful. Having free bike hire, books to borrow and being across from the supermarket was great Good to pay extra for air conditioning

I loved Dora and her eagerness and friendliness. Great, quiet location and a lovely place to escape the party atmosphere and relax within a local's home.
I like this place. It's basically just a house where they've stuffed a whole load of beds in a room. Nice atmosphere and good location one block from the main street, ten minute walk from the bus station. Dora, the lady who runs the place, is lovely. They have a hammock and several lovely cats.

It was nice and quiet, perfect if you want to just relax and listen to nature at night. They have bikes that you can use to venture towards Tulum or go into Sian Ka'an and the bikes were constantly being serviced so they always were in excellent condition. The hostel is just a 2 min walk to the beach.
Really good location for relaxing and away from the crowds and tourists. Simple tents with inflatable mattress. Take a raft on the cenote or go right across the road to the beach (quiet and remote compared to the other beaches of Tulum). Overall, one of the best places I stayed in Mexico. There is a restaurant right across the road and about 6 in walking distance so no need to bring your own food. Also bikes are available.

great stay, very quiet and peaceful. On;y 10 minutes walk from the bus station., 15 minutes walk from the supermarket and 30 minutes walk from the ruins. The staff were very nice, the room was spotless.
Nice little hostel, chilled vibe with small courtyard area with tables and hammocks. The staff are very helpful but don't speak a lot of English so be prepared with your best Spanish phrases!

The staff was really friendly, but can't speek English. I liked that breakfast was included. It's a nice place to stay a few nights, not perfect but good and affordable.
The breakfast is amazing! The best I had during my trip. It changed each day - omelettes with potatoes and fruit or banana and chocolate pancakes. Always tasty. The staff and mama are lovely - altho it would be helpful if more of them spoke better English. And the great air con was a win!

Really cool atmosphere. Great place to meet other travelers. Its not a huge party place but there i music and people drinking till midnight each night. there are also some clubs in town to go to afterwards. Definitely stay here if you want to meet other people and have a good time, not if you want to sleep. The resorts on the beach are isolated so it's better to stay in town especially if you're a solo traveler. I am traveling alone and met lots of people to hang out with. Highly recommend this place!
The "burn your own BBQ" is great, especially when you can get 2 beers with it for 15 pesos. People seem to appreciate the beach shuttle, but at 2 round trips daily the schedule was never convenient for us. A taxi to anywhere in Tulum is onlt 50 pesos so it's not a big deal.

the only thing i like is after all those facilities and bad location. the reception guy is really helpful
Clean kitchen. The beds are big and you can share them with two persons for an extra 50 pesos.

The volunteer staff were excellent very friendly, namely Jeff (Jean Francois) who was a joy. It's a great location if you want beach, cenote and reservation. Otherwise it's difficult getting into town, if you don't want to pay 120pesos then hitchhiking is the transport of choice.
If you are looking for seriously budget accomodations, Xbalamque is totally perfect. Beach access is super close, the cenote in the back is 50 meters from the cabanas, and there is wifi (when the power gets turned on in the evening). The cabanas all have locks for security, and the manager was very helpful and kind. Proximity to Sian Ka'an a huge plus. You CAN get to Xbalamque via collectivo from Tulum, but we found it much more convenient to rent a car.
