Liked: The WT is an excellent hostal for backpackers, really friendly and helpful staff, lots of things going on and a great place to meet people. The breakfast system whereby you cook you own is novel and it seems to work. Overall I had a great time here.

Disliked: Many people have written negative reviews of the WT eg, no air conditioning, small rooms etc. It's a hostal! If you want A/C etc go pay for it elsewhere. The only complaint I would have would be the noise levels. Most if not all the rooms face onto the central courtyard and at night there is usually music blaring. Now I'm all for having a good time but I would have thought that after 23.00 the house rules (as tends to be the norm in Hostals) would state that the lights go out and music goes off. Not here, on my first night there (a Tuesday) the music was still blaring after 1,30am. Having said all that I asked for an upgrade to a single room and I was moved to the WT annex across the street which was perfect.

Liked: This place has a great central area where you can get together and meet new people. The showers ae also fantastic!

Liked: close to the bus station

Disliked: having to share rooms with other people and no privacy. Getting woken up at 7 in the morning by workers upstairs this made me move to a different hostel!

Liked: Very close to the bus station. Theres a nice seating area for chatting and chilling. There are two free shuttles a day to the beach and temples. They operate a key fob charge account so you just pay 1 bill for everything at the end.

Disliked: The rooms are just too hot - there were twosuper loud industrial sounding fans that pointed in the middle of the room and couldnt be moved so nobody actually got cooled down! The showerrooms really wssnt good - there was no shower head, just water pouring straight out of a hole in the ceiling and the door didnt close. When you buy food at the hostel they give you the raw ingredients and you have to cook it yourself on the grill - i suppose this is quite quirkey but its considering you have to do this, the food is too expensive.

Liked: only the location

Disliked: the cramped rooms, no storage for luggage, people at the desk dont speak a lot of english, too noisy- music is played very loud until 12 at night, right outside the window. no air con. no room in showers to put stuff.

Liked: great social hostel. Great staff. location is fine, easy to get to places. Bike hire for 70m pesos. Free shuttle to and from ruins and beach, leaves at 9am and 12pm, returns at 12 and 5pm.. close to all shops and restaurants. They allow you to use shower and facilities after you have checked out. Cook your own food, this was different, but i iked it. You order your meal, and cook it on the bbq yourself. If you order orange juice, they give you 2 oranges, and you juice them yourself! salad bar was great, mash potatoes were a winner!! hammocks... free wifii in rooms. beds comfortable, rooms spacious.. I was happy there!

Disliked: would have liked the bikes to be free, like other hostel..

Liked: Nice to have breakfast everyday and the shuttle to the ruins and beach is a good idea.

Disliked: The rooms are very hot at night and the fans are loud so you might not have the perfect nights sleep.

Liked: Very close to the bus station. We were in a private room in another building across the road, but that was OK. Very helpful staff, we did the turtle/cenote dive through the guy here, it was the best value we found (500 pesos). A/C automatic from 7pm-9am worked very well.

Disliked: The toilets/bathrooms weren't that well maintained - clearly Sunday was a day off for the cleaner. A distance from the beach, meant you were kind of trapped into when you wanted to go (with the free shuttle), otherwise $$ for a taxi. The internet only worked in the front little office, which was inconvenient as you were always in people's way.

Liked: The big outdoor place

Disliked: The atmosphere, it is a place for the blowing backpackers, you love it or you hate it! Some people stay there for weeks, I was glad to leave after 2 days. Also the facilties, like the showers are pretty poor and the dorms are small with to many beds.

Liked: this hostel is all about the people, certainly not the facillites!!! really enjoyed my stay, but that is because of tulum and the other people in the hostel, plus the staff were lovely. But owner has invested in computor system, would be better if he invested in showers, and bathrooms!!! I know this is a hostel, but hot water would be nice once in a while, and a shower that is more than a trickle would go a long way!!!

Liked: The best hostel for meeting people at the bar but not so great if you want a hot shower!! Loved it here but the rooms are not great. Stay for the atmosphere and free bus to the beach!

Liked: thanks to the people at the reception, I was able to have a very comfortable stay in Tulum, also met some co travelers and some co partiers! in less than 2 days in Tulum, that's pretty good i think ;)
