Hostal Punto 79

Hostal Punto 79 is a colonial, recently remodeled early-20th century home conveniently located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende. Shops, restaurants, galleries and bars with a lively nightlife atmosphere are within walking distance. Hostal Punto 79 offers private rooms as well as shared dormitories. Guests can enjoy their stay in our cozy living room watching T.V. or playing pool. The hostel provides free Internet and 24 hour access to a full kitchen.

Hostal Punto 79 is a restored downtown house, creating a stylish backpackers hostel. Once you're inside, you'll feel as if you've travelled back in time to old colonial Mexico. Tall vaulted ceilings, colorful walls, stone and terracotta floors, personal balconies as well as its open areas and a fountain add personality to the house. The hostel has been recently remodeled with contemporary facilities; opened in December 2011. As an environmental friendly hostel, we try to reduce our carbon footprint by utilizing solar heated water.

The lounge is equipped with a TV with cable, a pool table, board games, and a computer for guest convenience.

The kitchen includes a fridge, oven, microwave, kitchen appliances, cups, plates, silverware and a dining area are available for guest use; the food market is only one block away.

Lockers are available in the dormitories and luggage storage is offered at reception. Laundry services are also offered. Drinking water is available in the kitchen and free coffee and tea are offered at reception.
Check in is at 2pm and check out is at 11 am. Our reception is open from 7:00 A.M. to 10:30 P.M. In order to provide a secure environment doors are locked at 11:00 P.M. Night Staff will be monitoring the door so people can go and come as the please during the night. We do not allow outside linens those are provided by the hostel. Smoking is allowed in designated areas.

Accommodation Information

Facilities include a men's dormitory with 5 bunk beds, a women's dormitory with 4 bunk beds, two private rooms ( hotel type) with 2 full beds and one suite with 3 full beds. The rooms are equipped with comfortable quality beds and sheets, and very good water pressure in the showers. Dormitory bathrooms are conveniently in the suite and comfortably designed for men or women. They come with hand soap and toilet paper; towels can be leased at the front desk. Private rooms have their own bathroom with included towels, shampoo and soap.

Location Information

We are located in downtown San Miguel at Mesones 79, San Miguel de Allende,Guanajuato 37700. San Miguel de Allende is the birthplace of Mexican independence and home to famous colonial, well preserved architecture. Just walk up one block and you will get to the Main Square where you can admire the "Parroquia" (Parish), and the lovely colonial buildings surrounding it, interesting galleries and a wide variety of restaurants,bars and cafes, or why not, relax at one of the benches at the "Jardin". Whether you want to stroll through the cobblestone streets admiring the many historical churches, spend a day relaxing in the nearby hot springs,( most of them are between 15 to 20 min driving distance, inquire at the front desk about these hot springs and how to get there). or dance the night away at one of the many night clubs, some are just on the next block. Theatre Angela Peralta is a block away from Hostal Punto 79 also the Public Library and the Market are behind us. San Miguel has something for you. The streets of San Miguel have public lighting at nights making it a safe walk or take a bike ride through the town.
