Liked: the hostel was a beautiful house, with roof top alfresco area and beautiful furniture. the rooms and bathrooms where also very clean.

Disliked: no one could speak English, as a hostel you would expect someone to be able to communicate with the tourists. It made me very uncomfortable and estranged. it was not what i was expecting thats for sure!

Liked: Cuija Coyoacan is amazing. Given I speak Spanish and wanted to stay in Coyoacan specifically, the two things that could possibly be downsides were upsides for me. The place was impeccably clean (they did extensive cleaning of the common areas every day), there was a home-cooked breakfast every morning at reasonable times (they even veganized it for me), and there was free internet and wifi. The place was small enough that I got to know everyone staying there, and we often had dinner together. Also, an amazing kitchen! Plus the neighbourhood is beautiful, quiet and safe.

Disliked: It wasn't a problem for me, but it is about 30 mins by metro or taxi from the centre, and none of the staff speak English very well.

Liked: Hostal Cuija Coyoacan is an excellent place to stay. The staff are very friendly and helpful, the rooms and facilities are top notch and the location is very safe and secure. I would highly recommend this hostel to not just budget travelers but also to folks more accustomed to high end, fancy hotels.

Disliked: I have nothing unsatisfactory to report about my stay.

Liked: one of our best hostels during our 5-weeks trip. The rooms and the kitchen were kept very clean and the breakfast was extraordinarily good. Especially the ladies that keep the kitchen clean and make breakfast are very friendly and helpful. There are computers with Internet access that can be used all the time, free drinking water and a nice patio with a beautiful terrace. The city center is pretty far away, but Coyoacan is a safe district with many sights and restaurants itself.

Disliked: The price is a bit high

Liked: It´s a really nice hostal where I stayed twice - totally more than 8 days. Located in a very quiet and safe district of Mexico - Cayocan. The hostal is very clean and tidy, so I was feeling myself in a good guest house or at home rather than in a hostal. The staff is very friendly and nice! Once even assisted me to take a taxi outside the Hostal when it was raining and there was a risk to miss the bus to Oaxaca... so the lady from the reception accompanied me up to the taxi place. As well upstairs there´s a very nice terrace for evening meetings.

Liked: Nice location in a a quiet neighborhood just 4 blocks from dozens of bars and restaurants in central Coyoacan. Small but good breakfast which changes everyday. Beds are nice, showers are hot, kitchen is excellent. Not a large hostel (maybe 10 other guests). Very little English spoken among staff and guests, so it helps if you know Spanish.

Disliked: The hostel never got warm inside (it's winter in MC), partly because there is little direct sunlight but mostly because the staff kept the outside doors open all day.

Liked: The hostel itself was wonderful, our room (double deluxe room) was large and had a spacious ensuite. The property was very pretty, with gardens and places to sit outdoors. There was also a fantastic breakfast each morning, other people have mentioned it was small, but it was fine for us. Also, as we were staying over the period of Dia de Muertos, we got special dishes for breakfast, including some delicious pan de muerto. The location of the hostel is also brilliant, the area of Coyoacan was very pretty, with lots of restaurants and bars in the main square serving traditional Mexican dishes, and had a very friendly atmosphere. There is plenty to do here, and it is only 10minutes from a metro station, and from there it is a very cheap ride to the centre of the city. This is the right metro line to get to Teotichuan, just ride to the end of the line (Indios Verdes), and get a bus from stop J, walk right to the end of the station, past the vendors. Our only problems were with the staff!

Disliked: Our only problem with the hostel was the erratic hours of the staff. We stayed here twice, at the start and end of our trip, and both times were let in to the hostel by 'family friends', who could give us a room after some coercion, but then had no idea where the keys were. This meant we had to leave the room unlocked when we went out to eat, and we didn't get a key till the morning. It seemed weird there wasn't someone there all the time, and even more strange that noone had any access to room keys!

Liked: Wonderfully kind and friendly but strangely ditsy staff, not knowing about our booking (no problem - it was on their computer) and taking an afternoon to find the key to our door. Breafkast was great but not as promised, e.g. no fruit / bread - didn't matter as everything else was perfect, but always nice to promise less and deliver more. Great to stay in Coyoacan, a brilliant area of Mexico City. All in all, a lovely place.

Liked: The location is the best in Mexico City in my opinion for those who are there as tourists. For those just waiting for a flight or a bus somewhere then this may be too far south. The staff were great and the room was worth every cent.

Disliked: The breakfast room is too small. The table was full when I went so I didn't bother with breakfast. The bed linen could be cleaner but that's just nitpicking.

Liked: Great, great value for your money! Prior to staying here, I was at a hotel in the historic center that was six times the cost and I wasn't able to leave by myself at night or come back late because the neighborhood was so terrible. It's not located in the prime tourist area, but it's a much nicer neighborhood to stay in and only a $5-$8 cab ride or $.50 subway ride to anywhere you want to go. The place is cute, clean--The pictures do not do it justice! Full kitchen facility, refrigerator, purified water, pots/ pans, washer/ dryer, close to many restaurants and a good size grocery store. Staff very friendly and welcoming. A heads up: You cannot make outside calls on their phone and they were not able to help me set up any tours--I booked mine at other hotels and hostels. Also, if you go to the airport from this hostel, let the staff know and they'll set you up with a (safe) ride for about $11 (a family friend)--worth it when you're carrying your life on your back. Enjoy!
