Liked: Location is good. 15 mins from bus station by walking and within 20 mins to most places of interests. They offer free drinking water with is a neccessity in the hot weather! Their breakfast is good with nice fruits, crepes and omelete. some of the tours (e.g. Celestun) are cheaper than other agencies.

Disliked: We stayed in a private room with our own bathroom. The shared bathroom is sometimes dirty. Since we book via Hostelbookers at a discounted price, we have to pay 30 pesos per person for the breakfast (not "free" as described on website).

Liked: Good location, use of kitchen, nice breakfast, friendly staff, willing to help.

Disliked: Noisy. Airco would be an improvement.

Liked: The location on the main zocalo plaza puts you in the center of all sorts of activities, transportation and culture. The staff was very helpful with directions, tours, local information and such. As advertised, the breakfasts were the best array of fresh fruits, omlettes, crepes, cereals, breads, juices and tons more. Even the cleaning staff would stop to chat and make you feel at home. The variety of folks from all over the world made every meal or gathering interesting and fun.

Disliked: Maybe a designated smoking area away from the main social and meal areas so that non-smokers could enjoy meals and visits with clean air.

Liked: We had a really nice stay at Zocalo Merida. The Hostel is perfectly located right in the centre. An excellent breakfast is offered from 7am - thanks for that again! Beautiful building, really good atmosphere.

Disliked: Ladies had to go through a dormitory to reach the toilets and showers. At some point the men's toilet smell a bit.

Liked: Nice hostel, really good layout. There's a good common area and breakfast is great. Location is perfect!

Liked: they serve an amazing breakfast and the owner cooks crepes and omelletes. very cool old building, great area!

Disliked: after a few showers the floor gets wet and dirty from dirty feet, a bath mat would fix that issue. other travellers seemed to be couples and not too chatty.

Liked: The breakfast is really good!! And the location is the best u can get.

Disliked: It's not really clean an we slept in a mixed dorm where all the girls had to go through to go to the bathroom.... really anoying!

Liked: staff are amazing and shared areas are safe and clean(ish). we got a private room which was quite clean. breakfast is fantastic value. pancakes, bread, cereal, coffee, tea, plenty of fruit and yoghurt. fantastic food.

Disliked: shared bathroom was awful with strong smells. also the shared girls bathroom is accessed through the girls dorm

Liked: Everything! We stayed for 3 nights in a suite without a bathroom. The space is beautiful, the staff are very helpful, the buffet breakfast was a big bonus, it kept us going all day. At this hostel we met many interesting, sociable and kind people from everywhere. The common spaces work very well to create a community atmosphere.

Disliked: The staircase to enter the building is huge and scary, especially carrying heavy packs. We feel the staff could have been a bit more organized, they seemed to forget more than once if we had paid and when we were leaving.

Liked: To be fair, there are some good things about this hostel: great location, big breakfast, comfortable bed.

Disliked: I feel the owner does want to make an effort to improve this hostel, but he lacks genuine interests in serving the guests. I stayed three days in this hostel and it was about 57 F at night. One night the owner covered himself with a blanket and lay on a sofa in the hallway. When I went to ask for a blanket, he said he had no extra blanket nor any comfort. Then i asked for an extra sheet , which he refused again because he did not want to set a precedent so" everyone would come and ask for an extra sheet." Covered by his blanket, he said he was sorry about me freezing at night but did not want to do anything.

Disliked: Bathrooms could be cleaner and didn't like walking through another dorm to get there.

Liked: The building is absolutely stunning. Private rooms are small but comfy beds and Iiked the varying wall colours.

Disliked: Staff werent overly friendly, I always felt like I was disturbing them, even for check in. Get in early for breakfast cause by 9am they dont refill any of the plates off food so you get scraps of whatever is left.

Liked: The location was indeed very good and central. The brekky was good but not fully included in our room price. The house itself was quite nice.

Disliked: There was no DOOR in our dorm room, which is something you rarely stop to question when booking a hostel, this because the ladies' bathroom was through the room I guess. A part of the ceiling crashed down on a poor couple sitting in the common area right next to us. The staff was quite chilly.

Liked: The room was very nice and clean. The best breakfast in a hostel with no extra charges. It is located at the main square, so you can get around easily.

Liked: Excellent location, very quiet at night even with the central location. Great breakfast offer.

Disliked: Staff 'gave away' our room after booking through hostelworld as they didn't know what time to expect us - would have been good if they'd asked us to provide an arrival time. At first they tried to send us to their hostel in Progresso which was ridiculous. Staff were generally a bit all over the place - a bit unorganised and frantic overall. Not sure about security - we could lock our room, but right next to the door was a floor-to-ceiling window with no glass in the frame and the frame itself was falling out. Also the front desk was often unattended.

Liked: Affordable, excellent location, with very comfy rooms :) My friend and I stayed in a twin private and it was awesome. The best thing i like about this hostel is the breakfast! Super-nice. Highly recommendable. Will not regret choosing this hostel :)

Disliked: Not much, would have been nice to have a place to hang the towels in the room

Liked: Very good location and breakfast (full breakfast +25 pesos). Private rooms with balcones have a great view to Plaza Grande. Only one disadvantage for this rooms - it is very noisy in early morning because public transport starts work. Staff was helpful (you could get a map and any information about transportation and places).

Disliked: Lamplight in the room was miserable don`t hope to read in the evening.

Liked: Great location in centre of town, good breakfast and comfy couches to chill on. We had a private room was spacious, clean and a good fan that kept the room very cool.

Disliked: Staff were friendly but could have provided more information about the area. There seemed to be lots going on in different Plazas around the city but the hostal didn't post any useful information for travellers at all which was a shame.

Liked: right on the main Zocola (square) very clean excellent breakfast for 25 pesos (or free continental)

Disliked: female 6 bed dorm had no window and was very hot although fans were provided BUT the main female bathroon is off of the dorm so people were walking through in the night to go to the toilet/shower!!

Liked: it is super clean. The breakfast is the best we've had in months and it is very generous. The staff is super friendly and helps out any way they can. The location cannot be better for Merida. All in all, one of the better hostels we have stayed at in our 5 months of travel.

Disliked: the internet is intermittent but still decent and the hostel is huge so wi fi doesn't reach every corner.

Liked: Amazing breakfast incl. crepes, omelettes and fresh fruit, absolutely great location. Loved the old building, very well equipped kitchen with more than just the basics needed to cook.

Disliked: Some trouble with warm water in the showers, but atleast during the time i stayed (august) a hot shower was really the last thing you wanted anyways.
