Liked: El hostal está muy bien y el desayuno buenísimo, lo único malo es que hay que subir más de 100 escalones con las maletas para llegar... Pero si les das propina Dante te sube las maletas encantado!!!! Por lo demás, genial.. Muy limpio, seguro y el personal del hostal muy agradable.

Liked: Although its not in the middle of the historic district, it was a very nice place to stay, you get wonderful service from the staff, its nice and quiet, and its just a short walk from all the stores, restaurants, etc.

Liked: The owners were awesome. Very helpful in everyway. Breakfast was served every morning with a smile and oral history about the region. Irene (curator and chef) makes you feel at home. The view from the open terrace is beautiful. If you can handle the flight of stairs, then this place is the one for you.

Liked: The rooms were very nice - clean and large. Location is good, about a 15 walk from the center of town. It is halfway up one of Guanajuato´s steep hills, so not for the mobility impaired, but otherwise fine. The best thing is the Casa de Dante is run by a super family, extremely friendly and welcoming. I definitely plan to stay there again.

Liked: Home from home - this family run hostel is fantastic. Breakfasts fit for a king. They're a lovely family - so hospitable. I would certainly recommend it to anyone visiting Guanojuato. It's a little walk out of town but it's well worth it. I even extended my stay!

Liked: It was by far the best service I have ever experienced at a hostel. The breakfast is the best meal in all of Guanajuato. After leaving my private room for the day, I expected no one to tend to my room since it was a hostel. I had emptied my bag all over the bed. When I returned, my linens had been changed, the bed had been made, and all the stuff from my bag was neatly arranged on a shelf. I was shocked! Dante and his Mom are the warmest, most welcoming hosts anywhere...even when they are full with 60 guests.

Liked: I had a wonderful experience at La casa de Dante, and would certainlly recommend it to others. I enjoyed a very nice private room, and would love to go back for an extended stay in the future. As soon as I arrived, I felt like part of the family. Breakfast was delicious and abundant--more like an "almuerzo". Breakfast is served daily from 8 to 10 AM. Irene, the hostess, and Dante, her son, who is a university student, were friendly, helpful and shared lots of cultural insights. I met people from many different countries; each evening, we sat around and had "platicas" about Guanajato and the Mexican people in general. Irene loves to read, learn, and share her knowledge with others. She has an interesting collection of international DVDs to enjoy in the evenings.There were lots of unusual sights, picture taking opportunities and activities in town, which is about a 10 minute walk from the hostel. aThere were also many choices of foods in town at very reasonable prices. We were just far enough from the night scene in town to enjoy a good night's sleep. The only downside which I would mention is that you knees have to be in pretty good shape to walk up and down all of the steps to reach the hoste, which is located on the side of a mountain. There are 176 steps to reach the hostel, and then depending on which of the four floors your room is located, another 30 or 40 or so, inside the home. The top floor of the hostel has a terrace with a breathtaking view of the city below. Lower rates, two meals a day and laundry services are offered to those who decide to stay for more than 3 or 4 days. La casa de Dante offers a wonderful Spanish language learning opportunity for students of all ages--at no extra cost!
