Liked: It was quite clean, at least when it comes to dorms/rooms bathrooms. The location couldn't be better. Right in the middle of downtown Guanajuato. The university is just a few steps from there, as well as the Plaza, cafes & restaurants. Verónica could have not been nicer. There's a computer for common use (not an old, slow one, but a cool one) and you can come in whenever you want, as they give you your own key to lock the main door!!! (ha ha ha...you'd better be conscientious about locking, though. For everyone's safety). I had the whole dorm for myself, but then It was mid week, so I don't know how dynamics are affected during weekends and/or peak season. It felt quite safe overall, anyway. I could walk late at night around the area with no problems at all.

Disliked: It's not that I disliked anything, but this might be worth considering: - There is ONE (and I mean one) bathroom for all women in dorms, and one for all men in dorms - The lockers (wooden cabinets) have no locking system, so it can be somewhat unsafe when there's a lot of people - Breakfast is rather basic: Bread rolls, jam, butter and coffee w/milk. Enough for me but not for those of you thinking grand. There's a real good coffee place down the street, though, as well as a bakery on the opposite end of the street, next to the University. - The guests kitchen was unkempt, so you'd better clean after yourself during your visit.

Liked: The location is excellent for access to everything in Guanajuato, including the fabulous coffee shop on the same street at number 35. Access to and from the central bus terminal is also very easy- no need to take taxis. Wifi connection is good and the dorm had both single and bunk beds and large lockers.

Disliked: Male dorm has only a door separating it from the kitchen so cooking smells permeate and it can be noisy if people are cooking. There seem to be only 2 bathrooms for the entire hostel (presumably excluding privates). They are in poor condition: torn shower curtains; very hot water in the shower on the first day, but no cold to cool it down and no hot water on the second day from the same hot tap and still no cold. - Toilet paper ran out on the first night and was not replaced until I asked for some on the second night (I had my own supply in the meantime) Breakfast doesn't appear until around 0930 and is very basic (nescafe; fresh, sliced, bread rolls and jam, but no butter) Get some great coffee instead down the road at 35!! There are no staff around during the night (you have keys and they rely on you to lock the door after you come in!!) and they do not appear until just before breakfast in the morning.

Liked: right in the centre, has a lot of character, the rooms are big and airy

Disliked: a bit old which means the bathrooms are oldish as well, a bit of dust here and there

Liked: Private rooms are a fantastic bargain. Close to the center of the Centro. Cheap restaurants nearby. Friendly staff. Wi-fi. Usually pretty quiet.

Liked: friendly staff, loads of character in the building itself and a great location, just a block from La Paz Plaza.I would just note that on check out the staff tried to get me to pay 350 pesos for the night even though we had confirmation from HB that the rate was 340 and that we had paid 10% so only had to pay 306 on departure. Staff did not seem to know what HB was.

Liked: The staff were very helpfull and they had good internet connection but there were only two bathrooms and they were always occupated and in the kitchen lived lots of insects
