Liked: Me and my amigo had a lovely three day stay here! Carmelita is a great host who is so friendly and welcoming! She made us a great breakfast every morning as well as afternoon lunch one day. Her hospitality is excellent and she has a lovely personality ;) The property is beautifully decorated, very clean and very affordable! We would recommend anyone who visits Guanajuato to stay in Hogar de Carmelita!!

Liked: Our stay at Hogar de Carmelita has been fantastic, we have LOVED staying at this great guesthouse hosted by the wonderful Carmel, she has been more than helpful and generous, and even served us (free) delicious homemade Mexican breakfast. My partner and I stayed in a private room and it was lovely. It is located not quite in the centre of town but is an easy 10 minute walk, and is a great opportunity to walk off breakfast, or lunch or dinner in town. We would both recommend staying here to anyone; it is clean and not too noisy, close to town, friendly and very welcoming. Thank you, Carmel!

Liked: Carma is very friendly and the place feels more like a guesthouse than a hostel. Her family is in and out and the atmosphere is very relaxed and comfortable. Excellent breakfasts and Carma even nursed me some as I was getting over a bad cold. Carma will give you recommendations on sites to see in Guanajuato. The rooms are comfortable and very clean.

Disliked: It was maybe 5 minutes walk farther from the city center than I wish it was, but that's no big deal.

Liked: El Hogar de Carmelita was a wonderful spot for my four friends and I to stay to explore Guanajuato and get to know the lovely Carmen. She helped us out with anything we needed, made delicious breakfasts, and even invited us over to her birthday party at her family's house. It was fantastic. The hostel itself is really nice, clean, pretty, and some of the rooms have really great balconies. I couldn't recommend it more.

Liked: We had a fantastic stay at Hogar de Carmelita. The room was clean, spacious and comfortable, as was the bathroom. The breakfast provided by Carmen was without a doubt the best breakfast we've had in Mexico. Best of all is the wonderful hostess, Carmen, who aims to make your stay in the guesthouse and Guanajuato as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. We would definitely recommend this place to others!

Liked: Carmen is super awesome! She is very friendly and made it seem like we were staying with a family friend, rather than a hostel. I've been to a few hostels in Guanajuato and would ABSOLUTELY recommend this place over the others. It was a bit of a walk, but that's why you're in Guanajuato anyway. Stay here & enjoy a comfortable, secure, and friendly atmosphere!

Liked: The room is more a pretty good hotel than a hostel and everything is very clean and made in a nice way. The owner is a so friendly lady so that I felt like being a guest in her house and not in a hostel. Her breakfast was also very delicious.

Liked: The owner is really very helpful and friendly. She let us use her computer and phone to sort out flight problems we had and made calls to local companies on our behalf. She also gave us lots of info about the town peppered with interesting anecdotes.The room and bathroom we were in were clean, well-equipped with a hot shower and very comfy (and large) bed. We had our own bathroom despite the website suggesting we would have to share. The small downside was the unattractive view from the window and some traffic noise but it wasn't too disturbing, and presumably this wouldn't be true of all the rooms.We would thoroughly recommend staying here. Great value for money!

Liked: This is an absolutely wonderful guesthouse!! We have been traveling on a RTW trip for the past 12 months and this guesthouse is THE BEST we have stayed in and felt more like home. Carmen who owns the guesthouse is very professional with a lovely, fun nature and she really enjoys fussing over you. It was my birthday whilst we were staying at the guesthouse and Carmen treated us to Birthday cake . The rooms are kept spotlessly clean with comfy beds and lovely clean smelling linen. Her traditional Mexican breakfasts are really tasty and you get very good helpings for your money (the first breakfast is free). Carmen's family also call in from time to time and they are also warm and friendly. Guanajuato is a beautiful town and from the guesthouse takes about 15mins to walk or 5mins on the bus. We can not recommend this guesthouse highly enough, there really isn't a bad thing to say........so just stay here and you will see what we mean!! Muchas, muchas gracias Carmen!

Liked: Great host, super friendly and often went out of her way to help us with whatever we needed. Awesome big beds and our room had a balcony which was great fun.First breakfast is always free which she makes herself, great authentic mexican breakfast.Can't say a thing bad! Laundromat across the road, free wifi, cable tv.About 15 minute gentle stroll to the centre of town, but actually better market and stores on the way. Look out for 20pesos fruit salad freshly cut with granola, honey, yoghurt, chili or cheese. Absolutely amazing lunch or snack.loved guanajato! great place, would def go there again!

Liked: Carmen took so much care of us, asking for the food I needed (I was having stomach problems). The room was the most confortable one of our 3 weeks journey through Mexico. Really quiet, daylight, huge beds, ... and the old (but not-so-old-looking) and charismatic lady entertained us a lot with long conversations in her very understandable spanish while helping us preparing the dinner. Liked: This is my best hostel staying experience. It's cleaner than 99% hostels and the beds are definitely better than all hostels I've stayed at. This lovely guest house is only 10 minutes pleasant walk to Guanajuato historic district where all main attractions are. It's a short cab ride (about 40 paso) to the bus station.The owner Carmen is a sweet and fun lady to talk to. But if you're looking for a place to party, this is not for you then. This guest house is for travellers who want to relax, chill out and have a good niight sleep at the end of day.

Liked: Owner is very friendly and helpful. She really makes you feel at home and like a part of her family. Wonderful location, quiet, but to close to the centro historico. One of our best experiences travelling in Mexico. Don't miss the opportunity to stay at Carmelitta"s.
