When you walk through the Nest’s front door, the first thing you’ll see is a big sign which says, “Estás en tu Casa.” Literally, it means “You are in your home.” And that’s the way we hope you’ll feel at the Nest.
Although right in the 24-hour-a-day heart of downtown Cancun, between the city’s two most entertaining streets, the Nest invites you to kick off your sandals, relax with a cold beer in the garden, and enjoy the Lopez family’s warm brand of hospitality.
The Nest is a cozy, intimate hostel only 450 or so metres from the bus station. One block from Tulum Avenue, Cancún main street. One block from Yaxchilan Ave., with all its restaurants and night spots. And one block from Palapas Park, the city’s heart. Fresh fruit for breakfast every morning. Movie nights on Mondays and Thursdays. Just minutes from glorious Caribbean beaches in one direction and the hundreds of shops at Cancun’s famous Mercado 28 in the other. Hot showers and laundry.
You enter the Nest through the stylish but sturdy security gates that keep Cancun open to the Nest but assure that NestGuests can rest safe and secure when they come home at night.
The Front Garden is full of flowers and trees and shrubs. A relaxing place for people-watching. Tables to chill out and talk, to enjoy your breakfast or a cool drink at twilight.
Reception is in The Lounge, a bright room with comfortable sofas and squishy beanbag chairs. Books and games. Cable TV and computers to keep in touch with home and with the world.
Just off The Lounge is the big, bright and very complete kitchen, large and modern and perfect for cooking your own meals, if you want. (And where every morning you’ll find a complimentary breakfast of fresh fruit, baguettes, cakes, toast, jam, butter, fresh coffee and tea.)
Most dorms and rooms open off The Breakfast Room with its cabaret tables and chairs. It’s a quiet place to enjoy your morning coffee or to read or relax or write post cards home any time of day. Each dorm or room has its own character.
Hufflepuff is the dorm reserved for women only. Four bunk beds and night time air-conditioning (11 p.m. to 7 a.m.) to make Cancun’s sultry nights comfortable.
Dumbledore, a large and comfortable private room with a double bed, night time air-conditioning and private bath – and at a price which can't be matched any any Cancun hotel.
Slytherin, a compact (think of a compartment on a train), cozy, colorful private room with bunk beds for two people, its own private bath, night-time air conditioning and a bonus ceiling fan that will blow your socks off. Tiny, but – wow! – definitely the best private accommodation bargain in Cancun!
Ravenclaw, a mixed dorm with only four bunks and the wonderful luxury of night time air-conditioning.
Gryffindor, the big dorm, with 12 low-cost bunks, a bunch of very effective fans and an en suite bathroom.
No matter which you chose, remember that at the Nest "estás en tu casa".
