Liked: Location : center of town, good bus connection to airport, reasonable bus service to blue bay beach, reasonably priced in-house taxi transfer to airport if needed. Roof terrace for the opulent breakfast and relaxed viewing of river and town. Nice owners and personnel.

Liked: very nice staff, cheap room and great breakfast. Close to bus station and only a short drive from amazing beaches. Lots of affordable restaurants and shops nearby

Liked: Really friendly staff, delicious and big breakfest and free wi-fi! They should advertise the free wi-fi!

Disliked: The town of Mahebourg is a bit boring and quiet, not many restaurants.. You will get easily by taxi from there to another places, but it would be nice if the town has something worth to hang around.

Liked: A tourist residence which meets well for the budget traveler. Convenient location from SSR International Airport and easy walking distance to the Mahebourg Bus Station, Waterfront, Restaurants and CyberCafe. Rooms were clean, air conditioning and reliable showers were a huge asset, as was the decent collection to DVD movies and books. The terrace breakfast, with a wonderful view, was included and although simple was tasty and appreciated.

Disliked: There is nothing I disliked. The property is best for the independent traveler, especially if English is your language of choice. There is little of a front desk presence or interaction to local/island information outside of posted maps and some brochure. You are on your own, which for the hostel/backpacker crowd should not be an issue.

Liked: Great for a short stopover in Mauritius - close to both the airport and the absolutely beautiful blue bay beach. Extremely friendly staff and a yummy breakfast too!

Disliked: If staying for a long period of time you might want to consider staying up North for part of the time as there's not a huge amount to do out of Mahebourg other than get the bus to blue bay beach (which is gorgeous mind you)

Liked: Our Host was very helpful with lots of tips and recommendations on what to do and see in Mahebourg and the area and helped us make all the necessary arrangements. They also have a wonderful rooftop terrace where they serve an excellent breakfast and which is great for stargazing at night. We really enjoyed our stay there.

Liked: Tyvabro was more than we expected, very safe for women travelling alone. Hassan and his family made us feel very welcome. It is the best accommodation for alone travellers. I particularly recommend Hassan's organised tours around the island. Mahbourg is close to airport so the airport pick was very handy, it costs £6. You can access beaches as well as forest quite easily, it is easy to travel by car around the Island and the people are very friendly and will guide you without asking anything for return. Hassan organised our car rental, he is very happy to help you with whatever you need. We were guided to our destination with ease. I recommend Tyvabro hostel, it has a very good breakfast, helpful & friendly family, its equipped with all necessary facilities, DVD player, en-suite bath & toilet, it is very clean and has internet broadband etc. Tyvabro – The best hostel!Our thanks go to Hassan & his family. We hope to see you again.Sadia & Taeko

Liked: Tyvabro Guesthouse is run by Hassen the proprietor. Hassen is extremely friendly and welcomes you into his house to share life with him and his family. The guest rooms are located on the second and third floors which gives you the privacy you need when you wish to do your own thing. The rooms are very clean and have all the necessities... double bed, toilet, shower, hand basin, washing machine, fan and air-conditioning and free internet connection. I couldn't have asked for anything extra.In the morning at 8am, Hassen has prepared and is serving a full breakfast of fruit, fresh baked bread, eggs, coffee and local delicacies. You can also choose to enjoy his home cooking for dinner for only 10 euro's extra. Tyvabro also provides a taxi and tour service. I recommend pre-aranging airport pickup and drop-off through Hassen as I made my own way from the airport and the fare is much higher than what Hassen charges.Tyvabro is located in Mahebourg which is only 10 minutes from the airport. It is for this reason that I recommend staying in Tyvabro at least for the night after arriving and the night before departing Mauritius.

Liked: This hostel is great. Excellent value for money especially with added extras like hair dryer and even a DVD in your room.The owner is so helpful and friendly and my only regret is that I didn't stay longer. The breakfast is excellent and make sure you have dinner as well.

Liked: By staying at Tyvabro you are invited into Hassen Jaunbocus' family home and treated as a household guest. -nothing is too much trouble for Mr Jaunbocus or his family. There's impressive attention to detail, and the rooms are clean safe and comfortable. Mr Jaunbocus is generous and perfectionist in his hosting and has ambitious plans for the place. While he and his son are well-established guide-drivers in Mauritius, their services were not pushed on us excessively and they were only too happy to help us organise whatever we wanted to do that was more within our budget, using their extensive contacts on the Island to find us the best deals. Budget accommodation is perhaps not plentiful in Mauritius but Tyvabro is excellent value for money. Highly reccommended.
