Liked: Simple but nice and clean and good location close to beach, night marhets and many eateries

Disliked: Nothing really, although you have to be quiet at night as sound proofing of rooms non-existant although not a problem whilst we were there

Liked: extremly friendly owner (chinese family), very quick laundry service, owner arranged our transport to thailand, location: only a few steps to the beach, value for money

Disliked: no power outlets at the room (you can charge your stuff at the terrace), very thin walls

Liked: Nice clean rooms. Run by lovely Chinese family, very helpful and chatty. Right next to the beach and some nice bars. Walking distance from main street.

Disliked: No fault of the hostel but be aware that Batu Ferrenghi is around an hours bus ride out of Georgetown and taxis are very expensive.

Liked: The room at the guesthouse is so basic but the good thing here is it is near the beach area where in you can sit and relax. Restaurants are just a minute walk. Owner/staff were helpful and friendly.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: The guest house was lovely. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The guest house was really really clean and centrally located. Right near night market, resturants, bars and the beach :)

Disliked: The only thing I disliked was the price. For a triple room with no electricity (we had to go out the room which wasnt too much hassle but for the cost) I thought it was a bit much. But Penang is more pricey than some other parts of malaysia.

Liked: friendly owner, it feels like you live in the backyard of his family. The location is good if you are into beaches.

Disliked: For the price the room was not good at all. The walls are very thin and the bed was terrible. After one night we left and moved to downtown Georgetown where we found a much better room for the same price.

Liked: Free wifi, very close to the beach

Disliked: For a budget guesthouse this place isn't bad and it is right opposite the beach but the rooms are very basic. The sheets smell like what can only be described as urine and the walls are paper thin so it sounds like people talking outside are actually in the room. Plus there is no ensuite bathrooms or aircon, only fans. The rooms don't seem to be cleaned either. There are better places to stay for only a few pounds more

Liked: Nice little hostel. Private rooms were good and location was excellent. Staff did not hassle in any way. Would recomend to other travelers.

Disliked: The down side is the walls are really thin. Also there is a Mosque behind the hostel which sings out from 6 in the morning. Not to bad if you are a heavy sleeper. Also currently next door there are renovations going on so pretty loud. Not any fault of the hostel at all and would still recomend.

Liked: Good location - right in the middle of Batu Ferringhi and right by the beach, although very basic in facilities and service - but very clean, making it excellent value for money; wireless worked well

Liked: Staff were very friendly. Free wifi. Good location. The verandah is nice place to sit, I left after one night an they refunded my money no problems.

Disliked: Very thin Walls so had to listen to the guy next door puking all night after he had woken me up (despite earplugs) yelling and messing about three or four times during night. Through not fault of the hostel the people the had staying were awful and I left after one night. Is also very very hot!

Liked: It had a great location and the family that run it were wonderful! So friendly and helpful!Rooms were very basic, but comfortable.

Disliked: There were only two bathrooms (toilet/shower combined), however, we never had to wait. This could be a problem for some travellers though.

Liked: baba house was great ,very friendly,clean. it is very basic .but you walk out, cross the small back road and you are on the beach. the family live in the guest house and make you feel welcome. we would stay here again .

Liked: The location is great - the beach is right across the street and there is also a great bar that does gorgeous cheap food. There are other hostels on this quiet street so it is a real backpackers place. It is run by a family who are friendly and do their best to help. The room is basic but for the price what do you expect - its actually alot roomier than other doubles we have had in Singapore and KL. We had room with fan and it was fine. There are no powerpoints in fan rooms but you can charge things out on balcony area. The shower head is in the shared bathroom and not in a seperate cubicle so it wets the toilet seat - this isn't an issue for us but I know it can be for some people so its worth noting. I enjoyed our stay there.
