Liked: Beautiful heritage building with lots of character, very friendly family owners and staff who were extremely helpful, very close to yummy hawker food, wonderful buffet breakfast with local food, clean and secure, TVs in the room were a plus, so easy to get our washing done for a nominal fee. First night some guests were a bit noisy and our room was close to reception but the owners were very receptive to our comments and moved us to a quieter part of the building. A bit further from town but we had no problem getting anywhere as it is easy enough to walk, close to the bus stop and the owners are always willing to ring for a taxi

Liked: The place has a lot of atmosphere. Every room has its own different furnishing with original antique teak furniture. It is really a unique place with nice and friendly owners that make you feel welcome and you feel like staying with friends. They go out of their way to help and provide a lot of information about Melakka. The place is very clean and the breakfast is good. If you have the chance to stay here, don't miss it.

Liked: Beautiful little cottage with lots of character. The room is clean and spacious with a big-screen tv and good air-conditioning, Cooked breakfast was served with a smile and some local sweets for dessert. Attached there is a little museum belonging to the owners and the owner took us and a few others for a little tour of the place and it was lovely. Provided a short but interesting history of Melaka with family anecdotes included. The property is also very close to Jonker St and all the tourists sights without being in the middle of all the hustle and bustle. The best choice!

Liked: Excellent atmosphere with incredibly helpful and friendly staff who take pride in their hostel, their city and their country.

Disliked: It is not in the centre of town, but it is a short taxi ride away. It made us relax more when we went back there in the heat of the day.

Liked: A heritage homestay - a unique chance to share an original 1930's Melaka home with its owner and his infectious passion for the city and Peranakan antiques.

Disliked: We didn't have a car so found it a little distant from Melaka centre, though we were able to hire bikes, and taxis aren't expensive.

Liked: The hospitality and friendliness of the family is way beyond the level I would expect. We have had a guided tour in their home which is a genuine museum with things from the colonnial era and the owner drove us to the city centre one day. Everyday they are around us in a very caring and interested way. Besides that they have mosqitonets, do your laundry,you hav free coffee, tea and drinking water. An absolutely recommandable place.

Liked: Beautiful colonial building tastefully furnished with relics. Very friendly and helpful staff with lots of advice for discovering Melaka.As it is away from the centre of town, it's very peaceful at night.

Liked: It had a very homely yet exotic feel, due to the installation of antique Peranakan furniture.

Liked: The owners couldn't have been more friendly or helpful, it was really a pleasure to stay there and it's worth the taxi trip to the centre of Malacca (and it's only 15 RM).The Cyclamen Cottage seems more like a little rural hotel than a hostel, and you can see that it was all "made with love". The decoration is really nice and the furniture, linen, pillows, etc are new.I would definitly recommend it.

Liked: Just about everything. They have excellent staffs that goes above and beyond, service with a smile as soon as we arrive till we left.The host was an exceptional fountain of knowledge, gave us an interesting insight about the history of Malacca and of the property itself.The rooms are perfect match of modern amenities and old world charm. The rooms we stayed at were very comfortable and clean, they were luxurious beyond its price.Breakfast was provided and they were quite delicious. The only thing we regretted was the fact that we couldn't stay longer at the cottage.We highly recommend Cyclamen to all travelers both young and old.

Liked: The cottage owners are friendly and helpful. My friends and I had pretty much fun staying in this cottage. We were surprised shampoo and body wash were provided. The breakfast was much better than we expected. We could not believe we could have tried kaya and local puddings in a cottage. The overall environment was cosy, clean and comfortable. It is worth to stay rather than a hotel.

Liked: We loved this place. Cyclamen Cottage is a labour of love for the owners. Restored and filled with Straits-Chinese and Colonial artifacts and furnishings. It is a real treat to stay here. Perfect place to relax and unwind,

Liked: Owners were amazingly friendly, informative and helpful. The property was a beautifully restored historic house complete with antique furniture and so clean. It was a bit out of the way - 5 mins drive from the old town - but this is good if you want to escape other tourists.
