Liked: Friendly owners, gave us great welcome talk about where to go and what to see, Owner sorted our bus tickets to Singapore for us. Good Self catering, no air con but price relecfts this. Room was spotless but a little 'old'. Nice balcony and kitchen area. Free wifi.

Liked: Staff are great, really friendly and the place was spotlessly clean. Great value for money. Nice, relaxing, comfortable atmosphere. We had a little trouble getting to sleep because the room had no air-con and it was very hot - the fan wasn't really enough for us. If they got air-con installed, the place would be perfect. However, the fact there is no air-con is made clear in the hostel description so it really just depends on whether you can cope or not.

Liked: I've travelled extensively and stayed in all sorts of accomodation, but it is without reservation that I rate the River View at the top of the pack. It's nothing exceptionally fancy, but the owners are so endearing you immediately feel like you've been welcomed into the family. The local advice they provided (especially with regards to eating) made my stay, and I will unambigiously recommend to anyone that they visit Melaka and stay at the River View

Liked: Raymond and Mani was the best and friendliest hosts I've ever encountered. They gave us orientation about Malacca and helped us arranging the connecting bus and taxi. The River View Guesthouse itself is a haven. I personally like the terrace area, where I used to hang around when unable to sleep.

Liked: We loved River View Guest House and it certainly lives up to its sparkling reputation. We were very warmly welcomed and given a great talk about Melaka, what to do, where to go that kind of thing and given a map which we used to its full potential!!The place itself is lovely, feels more like a home than a hostel. Our bedroom was large, very clean, the beds and pillows were amazingly comfortable, sheets very clean also. Our room opened onto the balcony where we spent many an hour watching the world go by on the river!Free tea, coffee, fruit and water very nice!! Free wi-fi...great!!Fantastic shower..free shower gel...nice touch!!We could have easily stayed here a lot longer than we did!!!

Liked: The owner is very good. They gave me an orientation about the city, granting me the opportunity to explore the area within a short time. And you will feel like home when you stay in it as well. You have to stay longer in this hostel and also in Melaka.

Liked: The view of the Malacca river and the cruising boats were awesome!!! This place is very close to the heritage places, jonker, little india area of Malacca (Indians would love this place!!!), etc. Definitely worth trying and value for money!!! Thanks to Hostelbookers for giving perfect review and help booking (without any hidden costs or service charge). Made my trip an unforgettable experience!!!

Liked: We had a wonderful 3 days here. The beautiful guesthouse has been lovingly restored by the extremely hospitable and friendly owners Mani and Raymond. They made our first 2 days in Malaysia very special. I would highly recommend this little peace of home to anyoone passing through Melaca......
