Instead of 2 nights we stayed 4 nights because of the relaxed atmosphere and the best host a guesthouse could have. Howard introduces the guests to each other, takes you out for a good cheap local meal, gives good advices where and how to go and makes you feel at home and welcome. We would hihgly recommend this guesthouse.

Howard the guy who runs the place is so helpful. he will go out of his way to ensure you have the best stay in Melaka possible. There is no kitchen but there is free tea and coffee (although no milk) but Howard will always take you to or advise you of the best and cheap places to eat. On arriving at the guest house Howard will introduce you to all the other guests as this place is run by an ex-backpacker and therefore he understands what it like to stay at a new place.

Howard the manager at the time we stayed was the best part of the stay. Very friendly and goes out of his way to make you feel welcome and introduce you to other guests - will probs even take you out for dinner and give you a tour, letting you know the best places to eat.

The host Howard, such a nice guy and so helpful, always introduce you to the other people staying and even got everyone together for dinner should they wished to join. Also very central to the small town.

Raymond is an absolute gem!! He took us out for banana pancakes one morning, and then for an awesome indian meal the next night - and stayed and had a few beers with us afterwards. He went out of his way for all of us the whole time we were in Melaka - you couldn't ask for a better host!!!! The hostel is basic (fan rooms etc) but clean, and the rooftop area is awesome. Oh, and try the satay from the shop two doors down - awesome. Thanks for everything, Raymond!!!

Raymond the owner was friendly from the moment we stepped into his guest house. It has a great character and cosy feel to it. Upon looking for hostels in melaka found everyone comenting on how nice Ray was,at first i thought it was to good to be true howerver this was not the case, as Ray made us feel welcome, took us out to eat with everyone to chinese and satay, even joined us for some beers, probly the friendlist hostel we've been to. Location was great, chinatown, shopping centre, and easy coach to KL for less then 5 pounds; all ten minutes away. overall 10 out of 10.

A great place to stay, the owner couldn't have been more helpful. Very clean, although a bit dated. I would stay here again. Internet in lobby RM2 an hour was very cheap and useful! We didn't use the rooftop terrace as we didn't have time, but it looked like a nice place to hang out. He recommend a great little cheap Chinese restaurant just outside which was really good. Good walking distance to chinatown and main town area, but just far enough out to be in a quiet area.

The manager, Raymond, is fantastic, he really tries to introduce everyone to each other and make everyone feel at home. We went for drinks together with other people from the hostel in the evening and then went for banana pancakes for breakfast! Perfect situation for solo travellers looking to meet people
