Liked: Lovely lounge area which was sociable.

Disliked: BED BUGS! Dorms infested unfortunately. Also there were insects in the bathroom so overall it didn't seem very clean.

Liked: There is a good movie collection, however, you don't want to be stuck inside. There is drinking water which saves money. The owner, Howard, is incrediably enthusiastic, gets everyone together and has the best knowledge of the area. The dorms are cheap & reasonably clean but not what I expected.

Disliked: But the property is cheap and you get what you pay for, not overly clean, no aircon in dorm, no towel for dorm users, no mosquito nets, so make sure you have Deet insect repellent. It's very hard to say no to the owner as he doesn't give you a chance to refuse, however, you are never alone. I would recommend as it wasn't hideous, just a bed to sleep in and a hot or cold shower when you need it, best of the bunch I have seen so far and the nicety of the owner adds bonus.

Liked: We had a brilliant time at Ringo's. Howard was such an awesome host, making an effort to introduce all the guests and show you around the town. We were there 2 nights and the first night he took us on a bike ride to some great street stalls for dinner, and the next night he showed us round the Friday night market. Each night ended with beers up on the roof terrace. The hostel was in a great location, not far from the centre of Chinatown, was kept clean, and had a very homely atmosphere. One of my favourite hostels I've stayed in!

Disliked: Graham left no negative feedback.

Liked: I really liked the atmosphere. The owner Howard really tries to bring people together- great place to meet other people. Evening cycle And dinner after is really good fun. Howard brings you to places you wouldn't even know existed, free tea and coffee and kitchen facilities. Location was around the corner from yonker street. Free wifi. Rooms are clean and have AC.

Disliked: Shared Bathroom.

Liked: The room was clean and the location was good.

Disliked: The booking confirmation did not include directions to the hostel. We didn't have access to a computer to get directions from the bus station so it was a long and hot walk to the hostel (which we only found because it was listed in our guidebook).

Liked: cheap prices, friendly staffs, ambient and well-decoration, quite cleanliness

Disliked: a little bit dissapointed with the private room. not so fancy and comfortable but ok for a hangout couple travelers

Liked: Amazing hostel! The owner, Howard, is one of the best/coolest/friendliest guys ever. He really goes out of his way to make sure that each and every one of his guests have a good time during their stay. I can really consider him to be a great friend even after staying for just a few days. Will recommend all my friends to stay here. Location is great, a few minutes walk from jonker walk, china town, town square, etc. Rooms are fairly clean and with proper lockers. Felt very secure. Atmosphere of the hostel was 100%. Howard makes it so that everyone is friends with each other

Liked: The owner, Howard, is a very nice and helpfull person. He really takes care of his guests and makes them feel like home. One of the nights, he took one of the other guests and myself out for dinner. A really nice gesture in my opinion. In general the room was fine. Nice and clean, but unfortunatly it had a view to a dark back alley. But what are you able to expect, when you pay 25RM pr night :)

Liked: the hostel owner was amazing very helpful made sure i had people to hang out with from the moment i arrived. was very knowledgeable and went above and beyond to help me out whilst i stayed there. i recommend this place as it has good vibes and great value for money. would definitely come back here

Liked: Not sure what the 'unclean comments' of other guests refers to- It's a bit scruffy, but definatley not dirty!!! LOVE LOVE the owner Howard, he will make you feel at home, and creates a fun atmosphere. He is a fountain of knowledge, and facilitates fun nights out for guests. PERFECT FOR SOLO BACKPACKERS!!!

Liked: The staff was very friendly and welcoming. They introduced all the guests to each other, knew everyone's names, and gave guests the space to join in on the festivities or explore alone. This is a great place that I would recommend to anyone who's looking for a chill place to stay for a vibrant weekend in Malacca!

Disliked: Not much really.

Liked: Howard was great and very helpful, location was good, good atmosphere. I think we read some reviews which said the place was a bit dirty, probably due to some building work which was taking place - this had finished when we stayed there and it was very clean.

Liked: We enjoy with a BBQ in the roof. Nice atmosphere with people for almost all continents. Nice conversation and food. we definitely recommend this hostel.

Liked: the last choice...i will never go back. never, ever.

Disliked: bugs on the first bed, and then they help me to move another bed. again THE BUG KILL ME ALL NIGHT THROUGH!!

Liked: Howard is fantastic. He is very friendly and always introducing people and making sure everyone is having a great time. He took us on a bike tour and out for dinner last night and it was really fun. He's really laid back and makes the places feel relaxing.

Disliked: I REALLY wanted to give this place good reviews but I just can't. Main problem- I got bed bugs. I saw them in the bed and am covered in bites. He changed the bedding but put someone in the same bed two days later. Additionally the place is not very clean. It is surface cleaned every day but it is in desperate need of a deep clean. I just can't recommend a place where I got beg bugs, no matter how great the owner is.

Liked: The owner is by far the best one we met during our trips! He organizes dinners, bike rides and takes care of everything to make your staying absolutely fantastic!

Liked: Ringos was a really cool place to stay, the owner was super friendly and introduced us to everyone else staying there as gave us a guided tour around the hostel. There was a rooftop outdoor area which was a good place to chill as well as the communal area with sofas and lots of dvds.

Disliked: Not the cleanest place in the world but it wasn't horrible and it was part of the charm.

Liked: It's great for meeting other travelers and socializing. The staff is really good at this. We got introduced to everybody by name as soon as we walked in the door! The double room was very nice to and at a very good price.

Disliked: Some parts could be cleaner, specially because you take your shoes off inside. Maybe it's due to the construction?

Liked: It's a really nice place where you can meet a lot of backpackers. You will have a familar feeling when you are relaxing on the roof with other guests, have barbeque or dinner at the night market in chinatwon together...You plan to stay only one or two days, in the end it's a week =)

Disliked: Sometimes the owner was not around when new guests arrive or do you want something from him. But it's not a big problem. He's really friendly and helps you with everything.

Liked: Made so many friends and I even went out with them for dinner and the night market. Howard and Sam was friendly too.

Disliked: The location was hard to find at first but it was ok after that. Just ask the locals they will know. Some locals even thought I was heading to the Portuguese Settlement but that is far away. The actual address is Jalan Portugis.

Liked: Good location (although nothing in Melaka is far from everything) but most importantly the owner, Howard and the way he brings all the guests together for nights out and dinner. Loved the off-the-cuff bicycle tour through the town.

Disliked: It rained heavily on the first night and my room's ceiling had a heavy leak - luckily my things and I didn't get wet. It wasn't the cleanest place i've stayed in...but nothing too concerning.
