Liked: Helpful staff that spoke great English. Free water, tea, and coffee. Free mats to use at the beach.

Disliked: Location isn't great, but you can walk to the beach in five minutes or so.

Liked: Close to the beach, but beach is not cleaned: bottles and cups everywhere! Nice restaurants nearby, ATM not too far.

Disliked: Well... The bed was the WORST: im only 18 and even i had backaches after a sleepless night due to the worst and noisiest squeeky matress ever! The owner appeared drunk and the common area is not a place to relax. It smells everywhere and the place is not safe at all. Anyone can walk straight onto the property, and noises from next door bar and dogs are annoying. The bathrooms are pretty okay but too little showers: only one per 4 rooms, that is 12 people! Very poor value for money, stayed in fab hostel in Penang for 10 ringits more! Don't go to this place, spend a few more bucks on a nice hotel or motel further into town. Also, the area is not very much alive and scooter rental is difficult: you need a motorbike licence for most places. There are no 50cc's. Think twice before you go here: no value for your money! Would never go here again!

Liked: Communal bar with cable tv, free tea and coffee, library, swimming pool, good AC, room cleaned every day, cheap drinks, free wi-fi, near the beach. They also had a party for Sam (receptionist) as it was his birthday and they gave a free bbq, which was a great gesture.

Disliked: Zackry comes across as a bit moody at times.

Liked: Great atmosphere and friendly staff. The location is good just a short walk from cenang beach but quiet in the evening. The rooms were very clean and functionable.

Liked: Zack and his wife were most helpful and fun! We stayed over Christmas and they made sure we all enjoyed. It's a great place to meet people and has free tea/coffee/water. Also use of kitchen and fridge. Very close to beach and town. Room was big and cleaned daily. Also, they have cheap beer :) We would highly recommend.

Disliked: Nothing we didn't like.

Liked: Stayed for Christmas and it was a very pleasant experience. The communal area is great. A community atmosphere is encouraged from arrival, very welcoming.

Disliked: It can be a bit of a trek over to Cenang beach, so get a bike. There's a good chance of having one too many hangovers :-)

Liked: clean, wifi, waterfilter (pantry), honestly tab, rooms are allright except...

Disliked: After the first check of this place I wondered why it has only 80 % on hostelbookers. BUt then I found out: the mattress was the worst I had in 1 year travelling. when I told the wife of the owner (and I was very friendly) that the mattress is shaggy, she freaked out and told to feed or to f**k off: "This is Langkawi, what do you exypect, we have to import everything, around us the places charge 250 per night..The mattresses in the other rooms are the same..bla bla bla..." excepet a bad working hostel in Australia I've never been threaten like this before. The place is far away from everything, its 10 min. to a small beach, but there is nothing, no bars. To the main strip where all the restaurants and other facilities are its around 30 min walk. The 3 dogs bark at night and woke me up. Btw: the other budget place on Langkawi weren't much better. Better stuff, but accommodation is really crabby then. The beach isn't the best, banana boat riding and jetski drivers are annoying. Just the booze is cheap. Cant recommend this island.

Liked: Family/Triple room with bathroom and ac for around $30 presents good value for an otherwise overpriced island (that's comparing it with the Thai-Andaman islands we visited the 4 weeks prior...). Zackry helps keeping costs down while providing basic, clean accommodation with the added benefit of a kitchen, free tea and common area for travelers to meet. Helpful staff with 'no-fuss'-style of accommodation. 20% discount at the Mexican restaurant just next door.

Disliked: The 'centre' of town is about 15min walking ($2 taxi) Please take note of the website regarding the suitability [or not] for young (below 12y) children ... (Ours are 10&12 - which we found not to be an issue).

Liked: Value for money, clean and simple. Good location - beaches, restaurants and bars only a few minutes walk away. Quieter than the Cenang beach area. Helpful staff.

Liked: Very nice place and clean; rooms were cleaned every day and bed sheets and towels were replaced with new ones every other day. Price is low for such a great place. Clean shared toilets and bathrooms. A nice quiet beach is near and you can borrow a beach mat and umberella also from hostel for free. Free drinking water, coffee and tea. A kitchen to use for everybody and a fridge. The honesty system is also great; you can take yourself beer or Coke from the lobby's fridge and you pay your drinks when you check-out. Restoran Mangga near the hostel is very cheap and good place to eat. You can also rent a motorbike from hostel; a good way to see the wonderful island. We liked the place so much that we booked 9 more nights there although we had planned to go to Thailand after our first nine-night period in Langkawi! Best hostel in Asia that we've been!

Liked: The staff are very friendly and helpful. There js a honesty bar with beers and soft drinks at just 3MYR a beer. Its really, really close to Sunbar which is where the Island ends up partying until the wee hours so you have just a short alk home. Good wifi and well stocked library. You can hire mopeds and book trips from here also. Is close to Catus a good and very cheap place to eat. I am a female travelling alone, felt very safe here and enjoyed wonderful company.

Liked: Cheap and walking distance to excellent beaches. Plus the pet duck was always a laugh!

Disliked: The old guy that runs the place is friendly enough,but never around..no problem unless you want to book in or pay for your stay :-) Also,the place is quite rundown,but not bad for the price. Air-con works well,but watch out for the mosquitos..they are relentless!

Liked: Very relaxed, chilled atmosphere...Zackry is the guy! Really appreciate the honesty tabs, a very rare system in this day and age, to be used and not abused. BBQ with new friends...free supper nights! What more can you ask for.

Liked: The place had a nice relaxed atmosphere, great location, lovely garden, nice room, kitchen for use, free water and coffee/ tea, beach mats and umbrellas to borrow, friendly people, scooters for rent .........we had a really lovely time! Excellent value for money.

Liked: Zack is an awesome guy! He's so friendly and has a great sense of humour.its within walking distance of the beach and there are some excellent bars (sunba is the best!)and restaurants. The honesty tab is a great idea. I have some great memories of this place and met some great people who I will remain friends with. It has such a great atmosphere. Really did not want to leave this place and I will be back.

Disliked: Flooded on the first night but that's because there was a problem with the drains.Waters went away couple of hours after it was sorted.This situation has never happened before and won't happen again and it certainly didnt put me off this place or change my positive view of this place.

Disliked: the owner is a bit weird. my room wich was a single privat room was always moist the smell wasn't very pleasent... it seems anyway that the whole building is leaking from everywhere.

Disliked: The pictures on hostel bookers are bad, it looks quite better in reality.
