Liked: I really enjoyed my stay in the Matahari Lodge in KL. Free easy breakfast and WiFi or internet. Showers, toilets, rooms, kitchen and also the living room is very clean and cozy. If I come back to KL, I will stay here for my stay again. Thank U.

Disliked: Everything was fine nothing to dislike.

Liked: The location is very central to Chinatown and very close to one of the stations which was convenient. I'm not totally sure I would have found it so easily alone having said that as a rival hostel is far better sign posted. Staff were helpful and friendly once actually AT the hostel. (She insisted on helping me carry my case into the luggage store area which is locked. This doesn't stop other guests from stealing stuff if they really wanted to but at least it is a supervised access to the space, unlike many other hostels.) Good to get free towel included. The single and double rooms do not actually have windows but this does mean they are very quiet and the bed was comfy. The fan pulling air from the airconditioned hallway into the room was more than sufficient to keep the room temperate. Pleasant little green balcony for smokers outside the breakfast area and it was great that staff clean up dishes and plates used instead of guests having to do so. Information on buses, tours etc is posted on the notice board opposite the public access computers which would have been useful if I had been in KL longer. The info looked up to date and staff were happy to supplement any questions by guests. For the most part, a clean hostel with adequate ablution facilities kept in pretty good order, especially as a number of guests when I was there were complaining of stomach bugs (which had nothing to do with the hostel and everything to do with bad eating!l), things were clean and tidy. They supply handsoap in all toilets and even the showers which is a good touch. It was also nice they wash the dishes and mugs after breakfast although it is a self service affair.Kitchen is fairly well stocked with basic utensils and stuff. They may need to renovate in a few years. There is a book swap shelf which I conveniently managed to trade my last book at.

Disliked: After booking through hostelbookers, the hostel originally tried to tell me and hostelbookers due to an error on the site they actually did not have a single private room available, despite the fact that it is very clear on hostelbookers site the agreement must be honoured and this is what was sold. It took a number of emails and strangely a PHONECALL to Malaysia and suddenly the room opened up. In all honesty, if I hadn't been travelling with friends who insisted on staying there, I would have gone elsewhere due to all the admin issues. Once at the hostel though, they did as they said on the tin so I can't really complain about my actual stay. I think there may be a shortage of plugs in communal rooms as there was a plethora of laptops and cellphones plugged in unsupervised all over the common room seating area which is honestly not that large. Breakfast is pretty pathetic, loaves of factory white bread, people who had been there a number of nights had prepacked food from the night before into the fridge for breakfast. This is not a big deal as Chinatown is close and food off the street cheap. If you have big bags, be aware, you WILL have to carry them one flight off the street as the lift mystically only starts at the first floor.

Liked: Strategically located at the center..LRT Pasar Seni Station in front,KL Central Market on the right,Mary Brown fastfood on the left and all of Chinatown at the back. Secure and safe. Strong WiFi signal.

Liked: Breakfast had peanut butter. That made me super happy. I'm so tired of strawberry jam being the only option. Their WiFi is fast by KL standards (4mbps+). Common room is really good. The atmosphere is very relaxed and quiet. You get a personal locker.

Disliked: I didn't like the beds very much. You have to climb so high if you're on the top bunk. There's also no WiFi in the dorm.

Liked: The location is central and it is very secure

Disliked: The showers are appalling, freezing cold and no pressure. I would have been better off showering on the street in the monsoon.

Liked: It was a wonderful place to stay. The staff was awesome and kind. They cleaned the entire hostel every morning. Wifi signal was good except for the 1st floor but I could always go upstairs and chill. It is located near the LRT station and that was a great advantage.

Disliked: Couldn't get Wifi in the dorm on the 1st floor.

Liked: Actually, I am still at the Matahari, due to flight connections, and the staff went out of their way to accommodate me during a sold out period, Chinese New Year. I am very impressed with the staff, the accommodations and the willingness of everyone to answer any and all questions regarding KL and Malaysia. Definitely would highly recommend this hostel to any and all travelers.

Disliked: No windows in some of the rooms.

Liked: Everything! The beds are great, the location is awesome - walking distance to everything really. Chinatown 2 min, central market 2 min, KLT station (subway) 2 min. The staff is very nice and helpful. We stayed an extra night here.

Disliked: The showers could do with a makeover. Wifi does not work in the rooms, except in the top floor. But the lounge is really awesome so this was no problem at all.

Liked: A nice and quiet hostel that is close to the subway and a 10-15 minute walk from the bus station. Ended up staying here for 2 extra nights. Chinatown is close by and there are a couple of bars within walking distance. Free coffee all day!!!

Disliked: Customer left no negative feedback.

Liked: Convenient location, Clean, helpful staff, comfortable. I had a very short stay there, as I was quite busy, so cannot comment too much.

Disliked: The room didn't have a window so it was a bit like sleeping in a tiny box. No real complaints. It's a decent hostel, just nothing special.

Liked: Very peaceful hostel with great staff and facilities. Rooms are basic with no windows, but very comfortable. Be sure to set an alarm for the morning, it is so quiet and dark in the rooms...perfect if you have jet lag! Will stay again and recommend to friends.

Liked: Good, central location for many of the sights in KL, the hostel is very clean and rooms are comfortable and of a good size. Overall this is an excellent value place to stay: free tea and coffee at any time, free breakfast, free internet and very helpful staff if you ever have any questions.

Disliked: Nothing - it's an ideal hostel.
