Liked: I have stayed at The Matahari Lodge many times and would continue to recommend it (but see comment below). The staff are helpful, friendly and well informed. Excellent facilities and very clean, The rooms are air conditioned and spacious.

Disliked: I had 2 very poor nights sleep due to a non stop screaming child in a room down the corridor. The walls are very thin. This has never been a problem before, as the clientele have been considerate adults. The Matahari Lodge is not suitable for families, especially families with badly behaved, noisy children. If this is a new policy of the owner I am not impressed and would reconsider any decision to stay again.

Liked: Very friendly and helpful staff. In a great location near Chinatown and close to transport links. Room is nice, bathrooms clean and they have a self-service washing machine which has been really handy!

Liked: Staff are amazing. Very central location. Excellent hotel!! Price is very cheap. Would recommend to everyone who stays in KL. We even went back and stayed for extra nights!!

Liked: Very good location and near the KTM Pasar Seni Station. There are also Central Market and Jalan Petailing nearby where you can shop and have meals at any time you want!!!! The information board is very useful.

Disliked: The room is clean and tidy but a little bit dark and without windows. The common area is small and only avalible on the third floor. Free wifi is provided but unstable actually.

Liked: Location was the best thing about this place. The train station is literally a minute walk away. If you just need a bed for the night and are in town to do some running around then this is convenient and the staff are both sufficiently friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The mattresses on the beds are a tad worn and need replacing - not a comfortable sleep but fine if you're not fussed. There are other hotels in the Central area (nr. the shopping district) that charge the same rates for a better deal.

Liked: Really great hostel and we wish we could have stayed longer. It was great to chill out and watch movies and meet people. Good internet/laundary services etc. Fantastic location in chinatown next to MRT station. Wish we could have stayed longer

Liked: great location in chinatown and very close to train station/buses. Decent sized. clean rooms, friendly people and safe.

Liked: I stayed at a single private room which is very small and simple with a bed and a rack only, but very clean and enough for u to sleep and rest. The public area, such as bathrooms, lounge room, and dining room are also clean. They offer free WIFI so u can also surf the Net in ur room. The location is across from Pasar Seni Stn, close to Chinatown and Central Market, and there is a 7-11 right downstair...very convenient.

Disliked: No drinking water offered in the dining room(only hot water for u to make tea and coffee); have to climb stairs to the first floor to take a lift

Disliked: Breakfast is free but plain witebread is a bit poor anyhow it was a cheap clean and good place to stay so should be a complaint. More a remark that better could get breackfast outside if you want something substatial

Liked: The Wi-Fi access was great! The privacy of having your own room was a real perk, often unheard of in most hostels, where 4+ people to a room is common.

Disliked: The management seemed only focused on making money and not reinvesting what they earn into making the property good. The towels were rags, the bed sheet, pillows, and blanket were severely worn, discolored. There was no mattress pad on bed. Door to room was not a secure lock, no storage locker in room. I was told I could print out at 30cents, but then they said the printer doesn't work, even though they were using it to copy passports and other business for themselves.

Liked: The staff was very friendly, helped us to see the best way the city, transport, activies.It was very clean, nice atmosphere, nice lounge, safe and we meet nice people there.

Liked: In a great location, very close to Central Market, Chinatown and a LRT station.The staff were really helpful and able to give advice about organizing our own excursions.

Disliked: The bedrooms do lack windows and are not ideal if you are suffering from jet lag.

Liked: Great friendly staff. . . Room and bathroom/toilet are very clean.

Disliked: Rooms a rather hot. Fan is located in a hole in the wall and draws in air from the airconditioned corridor. No window.
