Liked: Good, central location for many of the sights in KL, the hostel is very clean and rooms are comfortable and of a good size. Overall this is an excellent value place to stay: free tea and coffee at any time, free breakfast, free internet and very helpful staff if you ever have any questions.

Disliked: Nothing - it's an ideal hostel.

Liked: Central Chinatown location and across from the MRT to go see the Batu caves etc. Next to Central Market and in walking distance of the Botanical Gardens. Really lovely, cool, spacious rooms. Very, very clean. I'm not a fan of Kuala Lumpur, but I am a fan of this hostel. Doubt you'd find better value for money.

Disliked: Nothing really, even the bus drivers yelling from Klang terminal at all hours wasn't really that annoying.

Liked: Extremely friendly and helpful staff on duty 24/7. Secure property in an excellent part of town, close to many restuarants and attractions. Very close to MRT line too. WiFi available, and the whole hostel was spotlessly clean. Hot showers always available.

Disliked: Breakfast a little basic: tea/coffee and bread/toast with spreads. Rooms rather 'cubicle-like', with thin walls so you definitely need earplugs. No DIY laundry facilities.

Liked: Verry nice hostel you have everything you need and very friendly stuff.

Disliked: The noise some times from the hall but if i compare it with other hostels in Asia even in this, it's really good.

Liked: My second time I stay here. Great location, great staff, peanut butter with toast was a treat and toilets always have toilet paper, which is rare in Asia. Nice social atmosphere among travellers. I will definately come back the next time I'm in KL.

Disliked: The rooms don't have windows but that's the way it is in most places in the centre. Nothing to dislike really.

Liked: good value for money, really great place to meet people, roof terrace, it is small and familiar yet there are enough people (not too small), clean, great staff, good location

Disliked: showers and toilets are in the same room (there are rooms with showers only, but no rooms with toilets inside only), I have seen this a lot in Asia, but I still dont like it

Liked: Helpful staff, very close to the metro.

Disliked: I arrived in the night time and the taxi driver dropped me off in a wrong direction. While following the address in the night, I felt the hostel area very unsafe to walk around. During the daytime the neigbourhood is fine, very lively, with all the street stalls and the markets but not very advisable to hang around in the night time.

Liked: The bed was very comfortable and the staff were fantastic. My friend and I didn't know where were going to travel to next and the guy at reception (I think, Andrew) was so helpful and spent a lot of time looking things up for us and trying to find out travel details. We eventually went with the advice of someone else who, I think, also worked there and we ended up in paradise. I would definitly stay there again if back in KL.

Disliked: It was maybe a little bit expensive but I didn't spend a lot of time in Malaysia so I'm possibly not being fair. The shower cubicle was a bit mouldy however the toilets with shower at the end were much better so I just stuck to using them.

Liked: Friendly and helpful staff, convenient central location, reasonably priced private rooms. There is a nice area to sit with computers, books etc. The hostel felt safe, and was quiet for sleeping at night.

Disliked: Showers were a bit cold, and rooms quite basic - but they were cheap, and communal area was nice for spending time in.

Liked: Comfortable and clean, we ended up staying here twice. The location is good for exploring KL, and it pretty much has everything you need!

Liked: I had a very pleasant stay here - the hotel is well run, very clean, Ashley is lovely and very helpful. It's great to be able to help yourself to tea and coffee all day too.

Disliked: Well, some crazy guy turned up in the dorm room at 2.30am saying that I was in his bed and trying to make me move, but that's not Matahari's fault!

Liked: The staff is helpful, answers every kind of question and tries to find whatever you need. You can use the laundry service - clothes are being washed and dried for you until the next day. breakfast is free and dishes are being washed by the staff. you have hot shower! theres a TV, a balcony where you can meet and chat with other travellers and some trips to Taman Negara etc you can book right at the hostel. If you are away for some days, you can leave your luggage in a separate and locked room for 5RM per day. I would always recommend it, it's clean, safe and very good atmosphere and even compared to other hostels in KL it is by far the best!

Disliked: there's no window and no furniture in the sleeping rooms, but this is standard in KL. I think you can't find a hostel, where it is different. The rooms are bigger than anywhere else though and you get used to it.
