Liked: The hostel is at 5mn on walk to the bus station

Disliked: if you like to share your bed with insects stay in the 3 beds mixed dorm-room. I woke up at night by their bites. My bed was full of bugs or some insects... The reception was closed at 9:30am when i have to give the keys for check out, the door was closed!.....I had to leave the key in a office next to the hotel

Liked: Good taxi service, right on time and cheap for transport to Kuala Besut and airport. Good for a night or two when on your way to and from the Perhentians and for discovering the surroundings or planning a trek

Disliked: Breakfast is very simple. We ran out of bread and there was mbody from the management so we bought bread across the street for a few ringit. No big deal actually

Liked: The staff there are very friendly and helpful. I was only in Kota Bharu for one night to renew a visa for Thailand and been told to stay here by many people. Its perfect for short stay and the location in the city is perfect. Only 5 mins from the Thai Consulate, the bus station and Mc'd's! There were people who had been there a few days, who seemed very much at home. Its a great relaxed vibe there. Its a no frills, down to earth place to stay, so dont expect The Ritz Hotel. But 100% i will be staying there every time im back in Kota Bharu. Enjoy.

Disliked: Nothing really. The only negative thing i have to say is that is was a little bit more basic than i had expected. But that was not a problem. Very comfortable and i felt it was secure enough to leave my laptop on charge in the public area.

Liked: The staff was extremely friendly and helpful. It's too bad my friend and I only stayed for a night because we were on our way to another place. I'm sure the two male concierges would have been able to help us even more.

Disliked: Nothing really.

Liked: On the positive side, the staff were really helpful & friendly, and the location was excellent. The room rate was very cheap, but I did expect better.

Disliked: Our bedroom was tiny & windowless, and the bed & sheets were all very old. The shared bathrooms were mouldy & damp. Tea & coffee facilities were available, but with mismatched cups & stained teaspoons. Also, there was not an adequate address listed on the website - so our arrival late at night was made even more late because the taxi driver could not find it!

Liked: The guesthouse itself was decent, but the staff - Faizal in particular, but also One - really made my stay. It was also a very good place to meet other travelers too. And hangars were provided in the room (very helpful!)

Disliked: It was very basic; no frills, but I didn't really dislike anything in particular.

Liked: Mainly the place is OK because the guy who workes there is very helpful and nice.

Disliked: One of the staff (Anthony) came into my room without knocking and he didn't come to clean so I don't know what he was doing there. He also gave no explanation. Also one other guest came into my room after she has unlocked my door with the key to her own room. At least that's what she said. I thought this was weird and I didn't feel my things were safe there. Also the explanation about how to get there is bad, I had a hard time finding it as nobody in Kota Bharu seemed to know this place.

Liked: nothing really, maybe the fact that it was a quick stop over place

Disliked: Well when we arrived we had to to go over to the manager who was being lazy on the couch watching a futbol match with his friends. Next, he did not even know that we were coming in late nor that we had made a reservation. Finally, we explained that we needed to leave around 8am the next morning and wanted his help with getting a taxi set up. Well, we woke up and no staff was present, so we could not pay nor find a taxi. So I had to run down the street to a coffee shop to see how much it cost to stay there in case we had to just leave it under the staff door. However, by the time I got back from using internet a staff member arrived ALthough it was a hour or so late. Hence we wound up missing or transportation.

Liked: Used on way to/from Perenthian Islands. Room was small but well air-conditioned. Location near to local bus stop. We stayed twice both times the staff were very helpful.

Disliked: Bit of a language barrier with staff can sometimes be a problem. Also don't expect to get much sense out of the owner late in the evening..... Both times he was a little tooooo laid back (smoking).

Liked: Had a 2 day stop here between kl &perentians, the guy in charge was really helpful and friendly and had a good knowledge of both local and other areas. We did some suggesting with their resident taxi guy to local temples and arranged transport to kuala besut for the ferry about 1 1/2 hrs away. A def good option when looking at others available locally!

Disliked: My only complaint was we had te back room and the noise from aircon outlets was pretty loud but no real bother!

Liked: Really liked the guy who ran the place - he and his friends were all seriously helpful. He also had a good film collection for the evening!

Disliked: Perhaps the bathrooms could have done with a bit of paint. The rooms were spotlessly clean but the rest of the property could do with some more rigorous daily cleaning.

Liked: the guys running the place let us keep our bags for days, booked our train tickets and were generally super helpful!!!nice clean rooms and great value. bit tricky to find without a map but definately recommend!

Liked: Small guesthouse, cheap.Staff was very nice and helpfull.Room was clean but toilet+ shower rooms were little bit dirty ( floors).We stayed only one short night so it didn´t matter so much.

Liked: I was only in Cerana for one night on the way to Pulau Perhentian, but loved it so much I took a longer route back to KL to stay there again! The guys who run it are lovely. - Rooms are spread across different locations but are safe, very comfortable and for what you pay you get really friendly service, nice place to have breakfast and meet people and loads of help for your next stop. These guys rock!
