Liked: nothing good to remember

Disliked: the owner asking only about money before helping the strict rules, the smelly toilet someone stole my phone and the staff did not care at all helping me just go somewhere else, same price in other guesthouse

Liked: The price for dormitory life is unmatch in penang. Central located in chinatown and 2 blocks from little india.

Disliked: Have to pay for wifi when hostelbookers says free.

Liked: The location is excellent to go around by buses and plenty of food local food stalls to sample

Disliked: They do not have a 24 hours service and only a staff standby to open door for guests.

Liked: Free wifi (from 9 AM till 11 PM) in our double room. Room was okay. However, the aircon we got wasn't really working. Since we got it for free ("because it was so hot today") we didn't complain. Free coffee/tea in the morning was nice. Location is allright.

Disliked: The owner, Jimmy, is quite a character... He can nice and helpful. If he wants to. If he has a good day. When we were there, the first day everything was okay. We arrived late, after the guesthouse normally would've been closed. They waited for us to come since we've booked and we called about being late. So that was nice of them. The day we left, Jimmy and his wife had a fight. At the desk. In front of all the guests! It was pretty bad. We didn't like the atmosphere there. It all made us feel very uncomfortable. Toilet & shower facilities were pretty basic too.

Liked: The staff were full of character and went out of their way to help us. We arrived around 8am having come off the night train and though our room was not yet available she found us a different room to rest in for a couple of hours.

Disliked: Could do with better toilet facilities, only 1 squat and 1 sitting toilet available!

Liked: Location and a good place to meet other people. Friendly staff

Disliked: It is clean enough, but not super clean. The dorm is close to the street so earplugs are a must!

Liked: Nice and handy to town, easy approachable staff, cheap laundry service available. Happy to help out with booking tours and renting scooters.

Disliked: Only dislike was lack of power points in public spaces.

Liked: Value for money, and good location.

Disliked: A lot of mosquito, no free wifi for dorm bed, and lack of plug, it is very hard for guest to charge their mobile phone and laptop.

Liked: I really enjoy to stay in Love Lane Inn, Mr.Jimmy and the staff are very friendly and helpful and it s verry well located, just in the center of Chinatown.

Liked: The place was fine. Jimmy is a good guy but can be a bit cynical at times because so many backpackers in the past have messed him about. If you're good to Jimmy, he's good back to you. However, there are better places close by.

Liked: I'd recommrend this place if you're on a tight budget. Jimmy is very friendly and helpful. The room was very small and another time I'd definitely go for air con, although there was a fan in the room.

Liked: This was the most disgusting place I have stayed in during my three months of travel. In the end I could forgive the bugs, dirty showers, nightmarish smell, and general shabbiness but the violent, abusive treatment I received there I should not. It lookes like the owner hats people, I booked this hotel on hostelbookers. I wanted to stay in Georgetown for two nights. I promised my husband who was in the north to let him know where I am, so he can join me. I was glad I was given a WiFi code and wanted to send my husband e-mail but suddenly I was disconnected. The main computer was turned off and my connection as well. I asked where could I go to get a connection, no answer. In this part of town streets were empty and deserted. I thought I’ll do it in the morning. I walked up early at 7am. The owner was sipping his coffee or tea outside. I told him I needed Internet connection badly. It was a matter of switching on his computer for a few minutes. He showed me his back and said from 9am, can I not read? Yes, the sign was there, but the owner was telling me that he doesn’t care. I asked him where can I go to get the signal. He kept sipping his drink without looking at me. I finally found an Internet café, received messages from my husband, that he is flaying to Kuala Lumpur, since he suspects I am there. It was 9:30 in the morning. I told the hotel owner, that the plan was to stay longer in Georgetown, but I have to go to Kuala Lumpur. I hoped, since it was so early that I can pay for only one night and cancel the second. The owner started yelling at me, that he does not care about my husband and me, that I booked for two nights. He didn’t want to hear, that I agreed to pay for the next night. He kept yelling and enjoying himself making me feel miserable, He throw me out at 10 am yelling “Get out now”. I was willing to pay for the future night, but he didn’t want to hear me. As a result, I didn’t have time to pack my belongings and left a few voluble things there. When I stopped crying, composed myself and left my luggage in a travel agency I went back to the hotel to ask for my things, laptop cover etc, he said it was nothing left in the room, but didn’t let me in to see. I think, the room was already rented out. Horrible and nightmarish experience. This place should not be on Hostelbookers. I am 52, stayed in many hotels in my life and expect no luxury, but decency and kindness. This was the shabbiest and most disgusting place I have seen in the last three months. The smell if cheap chemicals was unbearable, small bugs in the room, hair in the shower, dirty walls. I walked up with double bites on my legs, most probably a spider.
