Liked: This guesthouse is really beautiful, in a beautiful location. The free breakfast each morning was delicious and really appreciated. When we arrived we were upgraded to a river-view room, which was a really nice surprise. We needed to stay an extra night so we were allowed to stay in our room, without the hassle of checking out and back in again which was really kind of them. The staff are quite helpful and there is a computer available with fast internet. The wifi is also very good in the rooms.

Disliked: Compared to many other guesthouses in the area, this guesthouse is quite pricey. As we did not spend much time at the guesthouse, we feel as though our money could've been better spent at a less luxurious place. There is not much of a social atmosphere either as there is not really a common meeting place for travellers to chill out together.

Liked: You really get what you pay for. Very comfortable and clean rooms, private showers (that actually throw in a nice amount of hot water!), nice common area outside with river view tables for breakfast. The owner is a very friendly and trustworthy person; gave us good advice for our plans in town. In 2 mins you're on the main rod, and 5 mins later you're on the area where all the restaurants and bars start,

Liked: The friendly host and staff, free nice breakfast by the Khan river side, 24-hour hot water shower, and the relax atmosphere in the old town area are the things I like the most at this hostel.

Disliked: nice and cozy, great location by the river side (personally think better than the hostels on the main streets)

Liked: Was was clean, although they didn't clean it or provide clean towels each day. Staff were friendly. Shower was good!

Disliked: It was a bit of a distance from the main market area, only around a 10 - 15 minute walk though so wasn't much of a problem for us.

Liked: The owner is a wonderful man, he welcomed us and at all times did his best to make us feel at home and make our stay as enjoyable as possible. The rooms are beautiful and roomy. The shower is high tech and such a treat after some of the showers we had before that! The dogs welcome you home and the breakfast is yum (we had the egg roll, yum). All in all it was a great place to spend our last night in Laos

Disliked: It is expensive but in our eyes it was worth it

Liked: The owner is very nice and very helpful. Rooms are nicely decorated and clean. The outdoor sitting and eating area is very nice. Breakfast is very good.

Liked: Very helpful and friendly owner. The room was so nice we decided to stay another 2 nights. Fab location next to the river, it was lovely to sit outside with breakfast and enjoy the view. It was pretty quiet too.

Disliked: Some of the doors were a bit squeaky but other than that it was great.

Liked: It was ok, clean enough but far too expensive for where it was.

Disliked: It is under a flight path, the bathroom drains smelt so bad I had to cover them during the day. The room was ok but not great for what we paid, far too expensive. It is a fair walk out of town as well. The people were nice enough, but not overly helpful.

Liked: This place is classy, super clean, and elegant, quite the backpackers paradise or one way to spurge while you are in Luang Prabang. The staff is helpful & gives you plenty of information. Great for 2 or more travelin' together!

Liked: The owner was very helpful in the run up to our stay answering email queries and providing travel advice. Service was good when we were there though sometimes it was difficult to find anyone on sight to help answer queries - especially in the early evenings. The guest house was easy to find once you have specific instructions. It is a little out of town but only about 15 minutes walk right to the centre. The views from breakfast are spectacular across the river.The bedroom was lovely and clean and with beautiful dark wooden furniture and the bathroom was very modern with a great state of the art shower. However the pressure and temperature was a little erratic.It has a nice family feel to it and is relatively small and all the communal areas are smoke free. The free breakfast was lovely and cooked fresh to order each day. The wifi was free and generally reliable although did get switched off sometimes during the night. There are 3 beautiful small dogs there that are absolutely delightful and are alwayws happy to welcome you back a the end of the day.The only main problem we had with the accommodation was noise late at night. Our bedroom was on the back of the property which faced cheaper backpacker accommodation. Some nights, up until gone midnight, there were people sat outside, practically under our window chatting and playing music / the guitar. You could hear every word of their conversation, mainly due to the fact the fan in the wall wasn't sealed properly and allowed sound / air through the wall above the bed.Given the fact that the accommodation is relatively costly compared to most in the area, we would have expected a quieter location. There are about 5 properties on this little stretch of land, all owned by the same family but mainly budget rooms. Therefore the noise generated from these impacts upon Villa Merry 1. However rooms on the front of the property would not have this problem. As mentioned, there are many cheaper options in Luang Prabang, far more than you will find on internet hostel sites and should we go again, we would definitely just walk along the river and the little roads off it and choose cheaper, more central accommodation. Being a little out unfortunately did not guarantee a quiet nights sleep.

Liked: Avid traveller - owner was very friendly and definitely a nice individual. Lots of ants in the bathroom. Lots of noise from roosters all night long- 2nd floor. Numerous other hostels along the river and closer to main sites both cheaper and quieter. If I went back, I would try out a different hostel.

Liked: This is a lovely villa close tithe hive bar and a short walk to the centre of luang prabang. The owner was very helpful and went out of his way to help us. Rooms were beautiful and a very comfortable bed!! Would highly recormend this place.

Liked: We booked one night at this guesthouse and we were so impressed that we cancelled our accommodation and stayed a further 3 nights. The bathroom alone was absolutely fabulous.Everything about the hotel was excellent and the added bonus for hubby was the friendly dogs!
