Have you had enough of package tours? Too much hotel accommodation when on travel? Know nothing about Kenya but still want to travel here? Want to spend time with some Kenyan chaps who are fun, adventurous and pure friendly? People with a need for understanding amongst all in the human race? The Hoggz Family at the Burrow may just be what you look for!

The Burrow opens up to you a new way of knowing Kenya with Kenyans. At the Burrow you have not only a place to eat and sleep but be part of the growing family, know about Kenyans and live as one during your visit with us.

Over the years we have opened up our doors to many from different parts of the globe and in so doing enlarged the ‘Family’ to further boarders. We welcome you to share this experience with us in the hope that you will leave the Burrow having experienced nothing but the best of travel times in your life.

Lounge & Dinning:
The lounge also doubles as the dinning room. It consists of floor pillows and a carpet set in a mixture of Indian and African interior. As this is the meeting point for the whole ‘family’, please consider others.

Outside lounge:
This is made for those that love the African night and beautiful sky. Simple couches and coal burning ‘jikos’ to keep the night warm make this a favourite place for an evening drink. Suitable for a smoke or just to drown a beer in the most homely environment.

House Kitchen:
Welcome to the Burrow’s making! The kitchen offers an opportunity for everyone to participate in the cooking and its maintenance (cleaning). All guests are expected to cook a meal from their countries and this is taken into a competitive chart ‘The Kitchen Oscar’s’
It is a spacious full house kitchen with all necessary kitchen ware and accessories.

Storage facilities:
As the Burrow is mainly a stop over or orientation point for many travelers, we do have storage facilities for people that have stayed in the house yet plan to travel the country. This is free of charge and we promise top safety of your items. However money and expensive items can only be kept in special cases and only on prior request.

Laundry:
Guests have the opportunity to do the laundry by hand but we also offer the laundry service at approximately 300-600 Ksh per bundle (depending on size).

Burrow Homes Offers a Variety of Activities:

SAFARIS:
Most probably the reason for your traveling hundreds of kilometers over sea and land to this beautiful country are the countless historical stories and myths of the Kenyan Safari.

HIKING:
Walking the unbeaten Kenyan wilderness is always an adventure you can boast of having done. Hiking offers the unique opportunity to experience this country with all senses, take your time to walk it, smell, hear, touch and become part of it. C’mon and dive in!
We could take you with us on a trek through a variety of environments with different peoples, landscapes, animals (hoping we don’t get to close to the carnivores) and sites in Loita, Chyulu Hills, Aberdares or Ol Donyo Sapuk amongst others. This ranges from 1 to 6 days and all depends on your endurance and spirit. Are you strong enough!

CLIMBING:
The best views are at the top! Try challenging the second highest mountain in Africa (Mt. Kenya) and see how fit you really are. You have the choice of simple or more taxing routes up the mountain.
It’s not only Mt. Kenya. Ever heard of Mt. Longonot, Elgon or Meru? Well, all these ensure a sweaty finish at the top and a mind blowing panoramic view. The climbing varies in days with the higher mountains taking 5 days to a week and the shorter ones are even achievable in a day.

EXCURSIONS:
Whenever the chance shows itself, we take the opportunity to leave the comfort of the Burrow to see more of our own country. Feel like joining us up the Ngong hills, down lake Magadi (no need to carry salt down here……. find out why), a quick dip in the 14 Falls refreshing waters and end the day with a typical Kenyan ‘nyama choma’ (BBQ)? Then Karibu kwetu (welcome to our place)!
Alternatively, if you want to get better accustomed to Nairobi then a drive up and down the city will show you both the past and present faces of the country’s capital. For the real experience try out the famous matatus with their blasting music, videos and lighting (be sure to watch your phones and wallets though).

CLUBBIN:
Forget the stereotype of “Nairobbery” and find out about its great nightlife. Enjoy a time from dusk to dawn in some of the lively discos and pubs the city has to offer. No curfew, music ranging from local to rock and reggae, the nights definitely turn out to be more fun than you could read in any travel book.

BLOW OUTZ:
Now this right here is maximum Kenyan fun. Brace yourself for a couple of sleepless nights and resultant hangovers. There are some great remote places outside the city where you can chill while having a blast with friends. The Blow Out is simply a time when we pack our bags, take the tents and find some place out there where we can down a couple of beers over some chat and BBQ. With a ‘bring your own’ policy, we will all have a nice time together sharing and experiencing family.

So, What are you waiting for? Come and Let's Have Fun at Burrow Homes Africa!
