Liked: We booked a deluxe double and our room was more like a Japanese style apartment, with separate bedroom/living area, toilet, bathroom & hall. The location was convenient and the staff were very friendly. We ended up extending our stay because of the value for money compared to other similar hostels in Tokyo.

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: Smooth organisation and experience throughout the stay. Extremely helpful and accommodating staff, even if I did have to use a bit of my rusty Japanese to communicate, it was fun. Nice rooms and good facilities. Actually had enough space, which was nice. The beds were comfortable! Showers had good pressure! Pleanty of maps and guides available in the reception area for tours, transport, local activities and other business. I would come back to this place. Even has a nice, new, modern and reasonably priced/cheap bar/restaurant close by, amongst other shops. I wish we stayed longer! The check in and check out times are not listed on this particular hostel. Check out was 11am, and I believe check in was after 2pm. We had a late check in, which worked out fine, due to the 24hour reception. Nice and reasonable times, compared to some other competitors.

Disliked: Wifi dropped in and out a lot, so it was easier to use the computers they had to offer, rather than my phone or laptop.

Liked: Excellent value for money. Short walk to the Minowa Train Station. 24 hour reception was great, and helpful staff were on duty. The opportunity to meet other travellers in the communal lounge area was nice. Room had nice space, considering the usual, more compact living space in most japanese accommodations.

Disliked: Bathrooms weren't the cleanest I've ever seen (a bit dusty in some areas) but the facilities were great and all worked well. Nothing that would make me discredit the place.

Liked: Was a great location as was out of the main busy areas but had direct transport in. Staff although not great English speakers were fantastic, so friendly and extremely accommodating! I have nothing bad to say about the place, and would return in a heartbeat....Thank you!!!

Disliked: Nothing.

Liked: The innkeepers are a very nice old couple, often brings different kids of snack and tea. Nice building, and rooms. 15 minutes walk to Asakusa.

Disliked: I honestly think there is some yakuza or mafia working from the property. One evening there was a whole shady bunch of people using the lounge sorting goods, and from what I understood they was also involved in some electronics. As I came in, they lingered a little before moving it to another room. One of them I'm pretty sure I've seen working in Shinjuku at night. Mostly it was just two or three, but they often came in early in the morning, I'm guessing working in shinjuku or roppongi. The kitchen was also extremely dirty, with gunk all over.

Liked: The rooms are very nice, and the tatami style is very homey. There are a lot of common spaces and all the amenities - clean bathrooms, free computers and wifi, kitchen, tv in the living room.

Disliked: Too far from transportation. It's at least half a mile from the nearest subway station, and kind of in the middle of nowhere. Also, the staff is not particularly helpful. It may be the cheapest hostel around, but there are more friendly and more convenient ones for maybe only 400 yen more/night.

Liked: Helpful staff and we had the entire hostel for ourselves due to the crisis in Japan.

Disliked: We stayed here for a week and everything was filthy. Especially our room and the common area (which was used by people who seemed to live here and never cleaned up). The hostel is, we know this now, way too far from all the good Tokyo spots, so location wise it's a bad one too.

Liked: the staff were incredible - couldn't fault them on their service and the owner was really kind, offering advice on getting sumo tickets, storing our luggage etc. Also, perfect location on teh hibya line - where the main sights are like Roppongi, Ueno, Akihabara etc etc. Free towls and tea and dvds also a bonus!

Disliked: nothing

Liked: The location was decent and the value for money satisfactory. Me and my friends had very little to complain about.

Disliked: Can get noisy if the behaviour of the other guests on the common areas is not controlled, and although clean, the property is getting somewhat down on the weather.

Liked: it had lots of character and an interesting look, i stayed in a private room which was just right with everything, it would have been nice to stay longer

Liked: It has potential to be a great hostel, if someone would clean it. Our flight arrived late, after the front desk closed for the night, & staff was sweet enough to leave us a note & put our keys out in the mailbox so we could get in to sleep, and then we could officially check in in the morning.

Disliked: It is so DIRTY. By far the dirtiest hostel I've stayed in the past 4 months. After the first night, I tried to cancel the rest of my reservation, but they charged a fee so I sucked it up and stayed. The beds are hard and too close to the ground - I think they're just made of a piece of wood with a fuzzy blanket to cushion it. There are enough lockers in the dorm for everyone in the room, but in order to use one you have to pay a fee per night. There is only one toilet & shower for the entire floor, which are both disgusting. There is still blood on the hallway walls, from a fight that was there two weeks ago. They need to hire someone clean everything.

Liked: Accessible from the Tokyo Metro. Rooms are large, considering it is in Tokyo. Heating Is Good. Close to 7/11, and similar outlets. Stayed in a private room for three people, and was manageable for 7 nights.

Disliked: No Microwave, no toaster. Kitchen only includes a Fridge, stove-top (no Oven) and a kettle. WiFi Drops out constantly from the 3rd Floor. With this all in mind, the price is reasonable.

Liked: Easy to find, convenient location, made a lot of great friends there. Also has airconditioning in all the rooms which is really important in the summer and an awesome roof area.

Disliked: Beds are a little uncomfortable, but managable.
