Liked: I am amazed by how this hostel keeps its building clean. I stayed this hostel for 3days due to the bad ranny weather(;think back, it would have been better and more convenient to get around sightseeing). Eventhough 4 ppl in the room with their wet bags and clothes in room and wet umbrellas inside of builiding, hostel mangers are able to always keep extermely clean. It is the first accommodation in my very first visit in Japan. I am kinda assuming that other hostels in Tokyo are same condition in th terms of cleaness. Staffs are keep changing in time, but they are normally kind.

Disliked: location. It could have been musch better the hostel is situated next to the Metro stn. Unfortunately , 15 minute walk to Metero stn. is arleady energy consuming especially in ranning a whole day.

Liked: Khaosan Annex was probably the best hostel I stayed at in Japan, it was great value for money, had very comfortable rooms and was located conveniently close to Asasuka station. I would recommend it to any travelers on a budget, and would definitely go back there on my next visit.

Disliked: The showers on the 4th floor were luke warm, while the showers on the 1st floor were hot. Nothing's worse than a luke warm shower in the middle of winter!!

Liked: I didn't simply like this hostel, I really loved it!! Starting from the amazingly polite, friendly and helpful (not to mention the fact that everyone speaks English - normally very hard in Tokyo) staff working at Khaosan, to the property itself, the entire stay was one of the best I've ever had until now (and I have been travelling quite a lot...). The cabin I stayed at was perfect! Spacious, comfortable, not claustrophobic at all, with a very japanese style futon bed! Much better than I thouhgh it could be. The entire place was very clean and comfortable. There are several shower rooms and toilets located on the 3 floors of the hostel, once again all incredibly clean!!! You will never have to wait outside more than 10 seconds ; )!! The living room at the entrance of the hostel was always full of very nice guests. Some would watch a dvd (there are plenty you can borrow as well as many books), some others surf the web on one of the 8 (free) computers located at the center of the place. Some others would simply sit on the sofas, talking or sipping the cup of coffee they just made in the shared kitchen behind. All this makes of Khaosan a cozy, warm and joyful place. For any question, you can always contact one of the guys at the reception who will immediately try to solve any of your problems!! What about the location? Khaosan is less thatn 10 minutes walk from the Asakusa subway station and 30 min (by train) from Shibuya/Shinjuku/Harajuku! All you have to do is cross the "blue" bridge to find yourself surrounded by temples (Sensoji is 300 mts from the bridge), restaurants and small shops!! This is probably one of the best spots for those who, like me, love the crowds but prefer to stay just one step behind them!! The entire area is very quiet and super well organized, no traffic, no mess no noise. What should I add more? Actually a lot but I'll let you find it out... p.s If I had a such a terrific time in Tokyo, is also because my wonderful stay at Khaosan!!!

Disliked: What I disliked ? Le me think... well about Khaosan nothing really! Ok better if I find something or everybody will think that my review is a complete lie!! Ok I got it: in the kitchen, they didn't have "decaf" coffee!!! Well maybe is not that tragic but for someone who only drinks decaf, it can be a problem!! Anyway, during my stay there, I got a can of naicha (milk tea) from the drink machine in located in the living room of the Khaosan, so my breakfast was safe!! ; )

Liked: The best were the staff and the atmosphere there. It was really nice to exchange with a lot of people and to participate in some activities as I was travelling alone. The bar was really a plus to meet people too. I loved the concept !

Disliked: Maybe the beds that are not the most confortable I had in my trip but it is not a big problem, they don't hurt you !

Liked: Good location, cheap (for Tokyo)

Disliked: The room I stayed in was really stinky - a mix of damp and unaired people smell. After a couple of days of having the window open 24/7 and spraying a whole can of air freshener into it, the smell wasn't quite so bad, but still present. IF I hadn't been staying with a friend for a couple of my booked nights, I would have asked to change rooms. The rest of the hostel also smelled a bit off and unaired.

Liked: Cabin beds offered excellent privacy. Had a friend who snored so the enclosed cabins blocked out pretty much all his noise! Plenty of showers and toilets.

Disliked: Had to collect laundry powder from bottom floor in order to wash clothes on the rooftop. Should put detergent next to washing machines for convenience.

Liked: Very little.

Disliked: This was probably the worst place I stayed in Japan. All the hype about this place is over rated. The cabin beds are small and dingy and storing your luggage is a pain. There is also no shampoo or soap in the bathroon. My cabin even had mould growing on the inside - disgusting! Use J-Hoppers instead, in my opinion they are much better!
