Liked: The place is a laid-back hostel with a really good and friendly atmosphere. The staff here are superb. They are very approachable and friendly and there is loads of useful information everywhere, whether it be from the staff or the handy leaflets spread around the reception/communal area. Most things are available: free internet, kitchen, cubicle showers and washing machines on the top floor. There are also lockers downstairs by the reception. However I was staying in a cabin bed (sort of like a capsule bed but different) which had a lock on the outside (which was supplied) allowing me to lock all my possessions inside the "cabin". The communal room is really good, with a tv and dvd player and everyone staying in the hostel seems to stay down here. The hostel is very good considering the cheap rates that it gives.

Disliked: The place is clean enough, yet there was stuff left by previous guests in the room which I was staying in that had not been taken away, and it stayed there, as it was there when I arrived and still there when I left a week later. I was staying in a cabin bed which was fairly clean but there was quite a lot of dust built-up in particular corner of the bed. The location was also a concern as the hostel is based in a back-alley on the very quiet side of Asakusa, a district in the northeast of Tokyo, which in itself is more like a quiet suburb than a part of Tokyo. However Asakusa metro station is just a couple hundred metres away from the hostel allowing access to the rest of Tokyo via metro (although the costs soon do stack up)

Liked: The staff here were really friendly, courteous, and friendly with everything I needed. The capsules are spacious enough, and it's convenient that they lock so you can leave your stuff inside. They have a vending machine, which is great for hot morning coffee. The internet is free and fast. The 105 yen store around the corner is very very convenient, good for beers, and a quick snack.

Disliked: The showers have no place to put your things: there is only a tiny hook and a stool which is usually wet. If they had a few more hooks and/or a shelf it would make showering a lot easier. I know the Lawson is just around the corner, but it would be very convenient if they sold food and beers on premise... most hostels around the world do, so I'm not sure if its just a thing in Japan, or just this hostel that doesn't.

Liked: When I first arrived I though it was a bit out of the way but it turned out to be a great location for visiting the sights in the Asakusa area and was close to the underground. The staff were pleasant enough but not as friendly as other places I stayed whilst in Japan.

Disliked: All the showers are on the ground floor which is a bit inconvenient.

Liked: The staff are the nicest people and extremely helpful. There is a great atmosphere in the hostel, people get on really well. The nearby Khaosan Bar (you get a free Sake or Ume there every day of your stay in the hostel) is very sociable, and serves great burgers and huge 1 litre beers. I can recommend staying in the cabin beds. They give you so much more privacy, security, peace and quiet than you would ever get in a regular dorm room that they are worth paying the little extra for. You have your own private space to relax in when needed.

Disliked: Nothing really.

Liked: Aside from being a little hard to find, I liked that the living room held the computers and the reception so people were forced to mingle in the one common space. Once you find the hostel, you grow to appreciate how well located it actually is - it's a 6 minute walk to the Asakusa subway station, which takes you anywhere you need to go, whether it's to the airports or various tourist locations. The staff are friendly and helpful.

Disliked: The hostel's located on a random residential strip so you really have to keep it quiet during the night. The hostel itself is basic, so you'll probably want to go elsewhere to do your socialization. (You'll see a few tourists from the other hostels walking around the same area.) The facilities are adequate, but there are few of them (bathrooms, sinks) in comparison to the ratio of people staying there. I'm not sure if this was a problem in other rooms, but my particular dorm (8 people room on the 3rd floor) was suuuper smelly - sweaty gym locker to the max. You get used to it, but it hits you hard every time you walk in after a fresh breath of air outside. Kinda gross, but you get what you pay for here and it is a really reasonable rate for a Tokyo hostel.
