Liked: The apartment made a nice change from hostels. There are three rooms so a maximum of four other people there. The place is clean, spacious and the location is great, just round the corner from Awaza station and easy access to all the sites. The guy in charge, Mr Takamoto, will meet you on arrival and is great at giving you tips and information on places to go, he will go out of his way to help and will even accompany you to places around Osaka.

Liked: Takamoto-san owns the hostel, and was extremely thoughtful and helpful! He made sure we knew where to go, how to get there, how much it was, etc. He even brought us deserts and snacks just to say hi, and see how our day was. I've never stayed with such a thoughtful hostel host.

Disliked: There isn't anything I disliked from this hostel. It's in a quiet neighborhood, so if you're looking to relax and take it easy it's a great spot! But if you plan to go out partying hard, it's pretty far from the city centres...

Liked: This place is somewhat unusual as its not really a hostel. Its an apartment with 3 rooms that the owner rents out. So as such its not really a place to meet people, and theres no reception or staff, so you just have to do your own thing. But the location is very good, its a 5-10 minute walk to JR Namba station, which is handy if youre using a rail pass. Also the district north of the train station is very cool, its full of great bars, restaurants and shops, and was definitely the best district we found in Osaka. Overall if you like to be fully independent then this is a great place to stay, its basically a cheap apartment to rent for a few nights! Owner is very helpful too, he met us at the station and was happy to give advice or help when needed.

Liked: It's a 3-room apartment sublet by an exile Taiwanese to foreigners and travelers. Everything you look for in a normal flat is there and free, and it's an incredible deal especially if you're lucky and the other rooms are empty.Very friendly and helpful reception by the owner, who speaks good English, Japanese and Chinese. Very close to the subway station.

Disliked: If the other rooms are taken, privacy for couples might be low, since the walls are thin and the doors open up to the shared area directly. Cleanliness is generally good, but it probably isn't regularly cleaned from the bottom up the way a hotel room is.

Liked: It's an apartment style hostel (almost ryokan style) with everything you can wish for as a back packer.Stores, subways and post office are nearby. Owner is super helpful and shows you around (thanks again!) and gives you advice. also is greatly interested in the travelers staying there.

Liked: Not really a hostel! My partner and I had a 2 bedroom apartment to ourselves! The location was quite good- only 5 minutes walk to the Osaka castle and museum, very close to the subway, and a 45 minute walk to Dotombori. We were met at the train station and walked to the apartment with the owner, who also gave us lots of information on the local sights, restaurants, etc. The only downside was that the apartment wasn't very clean, but we did get free internet, washing machine, bathroom and kitchen all to ourselves! It was very cheap too.
