Liked: This is a really great place, but the location turned out to be wrong for me.

Disliked: Osaka is a really big city and it might be a bit difficult to determine what is the “centre” of the city. After doing some research I decided on the Osaka station/Umeda area where J-hoppers is located. Based on what I actually ended up doing in Osaka this was however a really bad location. It is now pretty obvious to me that Namba is the true centre of Osaka, and has much more to offer in terms of entertainment, food and transportation.

Liked: Facilities were good, they have laundry facilities and the kitchen is very well appointed. The staff were so helpful, I wanted to arrange a visit to the Asahi brewery and they called and made all the arrangements and printed off all directions and train times for me.

Liked: It was great talking with the staff. I had a good time discussing history, cultures and languages.The patio on the last floor is really cool on a night looking at Osaka`s lights.The food around the neighbourhood is absolutly tasty and not expensive.

Liked: The location is excellent! Fukushima is so trendy with so many cool bars and restaurants. You can walk to central JR Osaka. Rent a bike for the day for 500 Yen. Everything is sooo clean and convenient. Internet, phone cards etc etc. Guys at reception very helpful!

Liked: nice and modern for Japan - international staff made it easier to communicate - they had proper hostel facilities like a kitchen and the extras like bathing products and hairdryer was nice. Its also located on a very nice quaint street of Osaka - one station away from the main hub. The only problem was that the hostel is not widely promoted at the Tourist Info centre and when I lost my map and asked the Shin Osaka tourst centre, they couldn't find J Hoppers or show me where to go. However, the nice station master at the Fujiyama JR station was really really helpful with directions and even went out of his way to come out of the station and direct me to the laneway ... when I asked for confirmation from a couple of locals walking past, they didn't even know that laneway's proper name ... so, my tip is always ask the station master at the gate :)

Liked: Location great - especially if you have a JR pass as local station is JR not subway. Lots of places to eat nearby. Staff really helpful.

Liked: the hostel was really clean and spacious...I stayed at two others in osaka and this was by far the best. The area was also really nice and easy to get to the city!
