Big rooms, nice staff (American guy). It was too much of an backpacker atmosphere, though. Guitarplaying, almost no japanese people, and so on. Really bad food.

Location: It is a great place to get away from the city and enjoy the mountainous country atmosphere. Perfect for day trips to temples and onsens.
Staff: Ken was so friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. He took the time to explain and map out our day trip as well as be our personal tour guide on the last day of our stay. This is definitely 'customer service' personified!
Atmosphere: Every time I entered the Lodge I felt like I belonged there. I felt free and at ease to sit by the wood stove or at the T.V. and chat with the other travellers. Always friendly greetings, always cheerful smiles!

The location was out of the way, but this actually added to a more bed and breakfats feeling rather than hostel.

The staff were very friendly and helpful from the outset. Rooms were comfortable and the lounge area was really nice. Although the lodge is bit further away from the main attractions they are an easy and enjoyable walk away.

The location is perfect. Nestled amongst pines tree and playground equiptment. The perfect retreat. And not too much of a wal from he station.
The Zen dinner was great especially due to the high degree of difficuty in finding vegetarian food in Japan.

i liked the first room that we stayed in. It was a room for 4 people but there was an upstairs/downstairswith two beds in each so you felt a bit more private. All the staff were lovely, and the owner was kind enough to give us a lift to the station.
