there is no curfew and they have english speaking staff who are very helpful.
The down side, the computer available for use was extremely slow. Give yourself heaps of time to send an email!!

Located downtown Nagoya and it's cheap. Just be prepared for a small room. Your bed is a roll

The staff is helpful and some speak English. The sento-style bathroom is great if you like Japanese style bathrooms. The bath wasn't very clean though. The single rooms are big and neat. There's free internet and a computer. The location isn't too hard to find and close to some sightseeing attractions in Nagoya, but the location itself is boring. It offers plenty of information about the area and city.

earlier reviews mentioned that there are no baths for ladies...actually, there is. i appreciate the fact that this hostel had its own onsen for ladies. though you don't have your own bathroom in your room, the ladies' onsen truly made up for it. since very few ladies stay here, you mostly have the tub to yourself. the hostel staff were also very pleasant and helpful.

The gentleman at the reception was EXTEREMLY helpful. He spoke English and offered me a lot of assistance on how to get places. He was very friendly and I would return because of his kindness. That, and the ryokan was nice too and easy to locate and next to a station.

The rooms, the service, the staff... Just perfect. I have been travelling around Asian for a year now, but I never felt so warm than in Ryokan Meiryu in Nagoya. You really really need to try the bath.

This Ryokan is a bit old, but had a lot of character. The staff was extremely helpful and spoke English very well. The baths were quite clean and very relaxing (and they are open 24hrs!). It was very conveniently located, within walking distance of the major shopping/entertainment district. We had the Japanese style breakfast in the morning, which was also quite good. I'd definitely stay here again!
