Liked: The public bath was VERY nice and everything was totally spotless. The owner was so pleasant and helpful - it really shows that he cares about providing the best hospitality as he can.

Disliked: I didn't like that you could smoke inside the guesthouse... The cigarette smell from the hallways got into our room, which wasn't very enjoyable. Keep smoking to outdoors, please.

Liked: Hiro was so friendly and nice. The room was immaculate and the garden view was gorgeous! The onsen was clean and relaxing. Everything about my stay was enjoyable and I would highly recommend it to anybody staying in Nagoya.

Disliked: Nothing. Everything was perfect!

Liked: The public baths are amazing, so relaxing. Lovely staff too.

Disliked: Beer vending machine was Y350 for a small one, but that's not really the point of the Kyoya.

Liked: Excellent service by the owner, Hiro. Excellent facilities, value for the money (Mac computer and TV in each room, private bath, towels/soap/toothbrush etc., and even a public bath!).

Liked: This ryokan has a good atmosphere and lots of character, but it depends on what you are after. You will not find a bustling common room full of travellers, yet quite the opposite. This place is serene and really authentic. It is popular with Japanese people as you would expect and everyone is very polite and friendly. The staff were the same and Hiro was extremely friendly and helpful. This ryokan was spotless, a pleasant regular trait in Japanese accommodation. Secure lockers are supplied outside the dorms in the corridor and they take a key which is given to you. Free internet and free green tea/coffee/ ice water. It also has a really nice onsen in the back garden. The front door is locked at 10pm but you are given a code for the door adjacent to the front door, allowing you to come and go as you please. I would certainly say this ryokan is value for money as although you are paying a little extra than what you would pay for a hostel you are getting some much more. Comfortable beds, towel, toothbrush, ensuite dorm, as well as a computer and tv in the room. I really enjoyed my stay here and would go back if I am ever in Nagoya again.

Disliked: The location was not too bad, is a little out of the way and took some looking to find it, but it is about a 10-min walk northeast from the JR Nagoya train station, near the expressway.

Liked: The setup of the room makes our stay very homely and friendly. The room includes everything e.g. 40 inches TV, clean bathroom and spacious changing room and the internet access.

Disliked: Nothing I can commend. Everything is super good.

Liked: Second stay in this lovely ryokan and still perfect. I was in a dormitory but no one came so i have all this space for myself!! Marvelous.

Liked: I liked everything about this place.Probably the best ive ever been in.magnificent rooms, lovely bath and shower facilities, exceptionally friendly staff.top marks, highly recommend it.

Liked: it was so pretty! massive japanese style room with sliding walls and windows. there was an amazing cute little onsen available to use, free of charge and an apple mac and television in our room. for 35 quid each for a night not bad at all. the owner was really friendly too! the nicest place i have stayed in japan so far.

Disliked: at night time it was a little noisy ( not from outside but from other people staying in the ryokan) although i am a very light sleeper

Liked: The owner, Hiro, was really nice and willing to do everything possible to make the stay comfortable. For the price, the place was really nice, perhaps even better than normal hotels. The room was huge and it had a private bathroom. The public bath also had a really nice setting and pretty garden. The entire place was really nice and well kept with a great Japanese atmosphere. The owner even drove us to the station the next day. Very nice.

Liked: The owner was amazingly nice, drove me to multiple drug stores and the hospital after i had a somewhat severe allergic reaction using his own gas and car, and the place was the most luxurious hostel i have ever stayed in.
