WATAZEN is a "Classic Japanese Inn" with modern amenities, located in the centre of Kyoto. It has been a familiar inn for many travelers to Kyoto since "Tenpo Gannen"(1830). Today, many people enjoy our traditional harmonious atmosphere in central Kyoto. We are confident that our excellent service and cuisine will make your visit to Kyoto a memorable one. Please enjoy Kyoto and relax at WATAZEN.

It has been about 170 years since the person whose name is WATAYA ZENBE founded Watazen in Tenpo (1830). Finally, Watazen has been recognised as the leading long-established store and obtained "a long-established store prize" from the Kyoto Chamber of Commerce. We appreciate this from the bottom of my heart as a result of your earnest support. The heart which meets the visitor of a trip is a "once-in-a-lifetime chance." We consider that it is our duty to treat the customer with all our might every time. Please pass the time at Watazen in the eternal ancient capital city of the world.

*What is the difference between Ryokan and a hotel?
The difference between Ryokan and a hotel is that, first of all, a hotel is the place which offers you a space. Once you get into a room in a hotel, the room comes into your space which means there is no difference between your home and the room there.
However there is "kyakushitsu-gakari" which means special person in charge at Ryokan and they always care for customers to make customers enjoy Japanese hospitality such as dishes or bath etc. To make you have a dream of Samurai.

We always offer a warm welcome to make your trip memorable. You will surely feel satisfied with the space and peacefulness with present-day sensitivity where you can experience the hospitality. Please enjoy your stay in the ancient city, Kyoto.

TV, fridge, and a cash box are equipped in all rooms.
