Liked: The staff spoke English brilliantly and were extremely helpful. the annex accommodation was great as you had your own personal kitchen if you wished to cook

Disliked: the ryokan accommodation was not all that it was cracked up to be and was not value for money. The cheaper annex rooms are the way to go, as you get a private bathroom, kitchen and TV. In the ryokan you only get a bed and shower.

Liked: The location is close to Kyoto station and the room is very clean and comfortable even though this ryokan is a bit expensive.

Liked: The hostel had a good location: in the center but away from the loud traffic etc. The district itself had an old spirit of Japan. The place where we stayed was quite old too, however the staff made daily cleaning and it was okay. BTW the staff was very friendly and spoke very good English, what was a plus, because it's quite a problem with English there. The room had a small stove, pans, dishes, cups, a kettle what was a huge plus. So I could make my breakfast. It was a bit cold though to sleep on the floor in late autumn, though it was possible to arrange more mats. Anyway, it's a sort of a budget place for young people and couples who come to see the city and do not stay inside the whole day. It was simple and had everything for simple needs.

Liked: Our room was big compare to the others in the same hotel but there is a serious problem of cleanless, even in the common parts.
