Liked: The owners were really friendly and helpful. We went back for a second stay and they made us feel very welcome.

Disliked: We did feel rather obliged to make ourselves scarce during the day, but I think that's a Japanese B&B thing, not a fault of this hostel.

Liked: A wonderful experience in Kyoto, run by very friendly hosts. Close to subway lines, quiet and safe. Highly recommended!

Liked: nothing

Disliked: It was freezing cold inside the hostel, the way to the shower (only one for every room) was awfully cold. The place located in such a cold place as Kyoto, surrounded by mountains, and with snow outside half year long is not properly isolated, and just has air heat in the room, which takes forever to get warm... The owners (old marriage who do not speak well english) just don't care much, they charge for internet service and even for the towell. Besides it is in the east limit suburbs of kyoto, only reacheable by subway (not very convenient there) and walking for 15 minutes afterwards. No urban bus arrives there! Not at all worth what they charge, they wanna make easy money.

Liked: The building is clean and the facilities are great! The couple running the place are charming and extremely friendly. They went out of their way to make us feel welcome and comfortable and recommended several places to go and see. One of the nicest hostels I have stayed at.

Liked: this place is amazing....its like having your own flat in kyoto. it is a short walk from a subway station but the distance from downtown kyoto has A LOT of appeal. it is amazing value and having stayed in other places elsewhere in kyoto this is by far the best

Liked: Kyoto Backpackers hostel is great for people who are in Kyoto to see the city. The hostel is very reasonable priced. The staff (owners) are really nice and helpful! It is not located in the city centre but it is only 4 stops away by subway. This is not a place for people who wanna party and come back at night. For other travellers who want to save money this is the perfect choice. There is wireless internet in rooms and the rooms are big.

Liked: The couple were really helpful and the bedroom was really big

Disliked: There was no one else staying when we were there, so there wasn't the chance to meet anyone or have fun. I'm sure it would have been a better experience if there were others. But thats not the owners fault i guess. There was no real common area, so we couldn't relax, watch tv at all. The owner charged us for a night we cancelled in advance, on top of the deposit that we already lost

Liked: Extremely friendly and helpful owners. The room was a good size and had access to good, clean facilities. There were shops near by so picking up food and essentials was easy. The hostel had a really nice atmosphere and was located close to the metro station which made getting around very easy.
