We are an old Japanese private house. It is a narrow place so please do not be surprised, this is you’re best way to experience only Japanese life. Newly opened in spring 2006! ‘Kanouya’ is located in Nishijin, a residential and quiet area in Kyoto. A friendly, cozy, clean and reasonable hostel!

If you book, please print or take a photo the hostel map. It is impossible to arrive with your imagination.
No smoke here! Someone smoked. Please maintain trust in the traveler.
We are in a great location! Senbon Demizu bus stop is just a 3 minute walk away from our place and JR Nijo Station (JR Sagano Line) is the closest rail station which is about 17 minutes (1.2km) away from our hostel by foot.
Some supermarkets and 24 hours convenience stores are neighborhood.
This hostel is an old private house in Japan, please understand that the private house is narrow. For this reason the reception has become family style.
Leaving time 12PM to 4PM (Please cooperate).
I don't want the guest who cannot keep the rules.
Attention:
#_ Boy and Girl rooms of the dormitory in this hostel are separated. This hostel is not provided with mixed dormitories.
_# Check-in: 4 pm. You can drop luggage anytime.
#_ Check-out: 12 pm.
_# Because of the wooden building, smoking is forbidden.
#_ This traditional house is sticking with the next house. Please do not visit the next house.
_# Please don't book 2 people for the 3 people preparations private room.
On peak season, it is unfair that only the private room has room in space.
#_ Dormitory is a share room. You stay with other people.
3 or 4 or 5 people can stay in the Japanese-style room.
Please reserve the private room and one dormitory person by the same name.

I request to gentlemanly stay. This hostel priority is share space than couple's purpose.
Some couple's purpose of destroys the comfort to other customers. I don't want to clean it later.
All our rooms are equipped with air-conditioning. Hot showers are available between 16:00 pm. to 1:00 am. Soaps and driers are prepared in this hostel.
If you want, you can visit the Sento (15:00 pm. - 0:00 am., JPY 390/person), which is a Japanese traditional public bath. It is nearby so please feel free to ask us!
More transport information will be released when booking.
The train in Kyoto is small area and so not convenient. The bus almost covers the city.
Please visit Kyoto by the idea of the bus movement.
One way is 220 Yen and therefore we recommend buying the 1 day city bus pass. It costs 500yen and it is available from the driver on the bus.

-Deposit cannot be refunded
-When the reservation is changed, the room charge (excluding deposit) is requested

PLEASE NOTE:
The time in Kyoto is traditional style, it synchronizes with the sunset time
A lot of famous facilities and Buddhist temples close at 5:00PM, therefore if you arrive in the afternoon, your visits will be limited

There is a big market on the 15th, the 21st, and the 25th every month.
