If you are looking to go to more than one ski resort during your stay in Hakuba, you will be glad you chose Mt Hakuba Backpackers. From our hostel there are free shuttle buses to and from all of the 10 ski areas in the Hakuba area.

Mt Hakuba Backpackers Hostel is the best hostel in Hakuba. From our hostel there are free shuttle buses to and from all of the 6 major ski areas in the Hakuba area, We are centrally located in the Echoland region of Hakuba, so there are many bars,restaurants and nightclubs within a couple of minutes walk and a large convenience shop less than a minute walk away. If you want to experience a traditional Japanese hot spring you can walk to the closest one in 5 minutes. The shuttle buses operate between the 20th Dec and 31 Mar, prior to that and during April and early May, the hostel will do a shuttle bus to one ski resort, rotating daily.

In addition to our great location, the hostel is professionally run, but with friendly staff so you will feel welcome from the minute you walk through the door. Mt Hakuba Backpackers is fully equipped with an inhouse bar (separated from the sleeping areas),restaurant,guest laundry,guest kitchen, an internet cafe (with free wireless) and a free book exchange. The bar has cozy sofas, a billiard table and a large screen for international sports. You can buy cheap but filling meals at the hostel restaurant.

We take pride in keeping the hostelclean and well maintained. You will rarely have to wait for a shower, and our toilets are the high tech Japanese warmlet type, very cozy in Winter. Mt Hakuba Backpackers Hostel has a drying area for gear, and we also rent out ski/boarding equipment at cheap prices. We also sell discounted lift tickets to all of the major ski areas in Hakuba saving you time and money.

At our hostel you can also rent mountain bikes (except during the ski season). We are open every day of the year, and we encourage people to come during the non-winter months to check out the wild beauty of Hakuba. There are many hiking and mountain bike trails to explore and we know them all. Hakuba is also a mecca for outdoor sports such as rafting and paragliding.

Accommodation Information

We have 10 rooms accomodating 40 people in total. Linen is included free of charge and towels are available at a small cost.

Mt Hakuba Backpackers is fully equipped with a bar,restaurant,guest laundry,guest kitchen, an internet cafe (with wireless too) and a free book exchange.

Our bathrooms are Japanese style, with large bathtubs to soak those aches away and plenty of showers.

Location Information

Mt Hakuba Backpackers Hostel is located in the Echoland district of Hakuba, which is where most of the nightlife is. Less than a minute walk away is a convenience shop, a couple of minutes walk will take you to a range of bars and restaurants and 5 minutes walk will find you at the closest hot spring. By car we are a 5 minute drive from Hakuba Train Station and a 5 minute drive to either of Hakuba 47/Goryu or Happone Ski areas. There are free shuttle buses to all of the 6 major ski areas in Hakuba.
