Liked: The staff at this hostel made the experience...I had left something in my last hostel in Florence, and the owner did all he could to help me get it back. The location was fantastic and the hostel itself was clean and cozy.

Disliked: The staff is rather laid back, this wasn't a problem for me as I am the same way. If order and professionalism is your main concern, you may not get that here, but you will get authenticity and friendliness.

Liked: -Very nice property, view of canal, central location -Big bedrooms -Free wifi, worked well in kitchen but not our room -kitchen was handy but minimal fridge space, fridge wasn't cold & it was confusing to work out stovetop/oven -Large bathroom but tiny shower -Lockers with free padlocks

Disliked: -VERY hard to find, took us over an hour -Extra charge of €3 per person per night on top of priest quoted on hostelbookers.com -Extra charge of €5 per bed for linen (no including a towel), which was then removed from our beds after 1 night -Hostel not located at address provided, this is only reception then its 5min walk to hostel -No locks on bedroom doors -Bathroom was connected to our bedroom so other guests constantly walking in & out -Thin walls, so very noisy -Some renovations taking place in kitchen so workmen had noisy tools going at 8.30am

Liked: It was centrally located, clean, and beautiful. The staff was very friendly and helpful. It was very secure, definitely my favorite hostel I´ve stayed at so far!

Disliked: It was a little bit pricey. For one person for one night it was 45 euros, more than twice what a typical hostel costs.

Disliked: Nothing except that like everything in Venice, it was difficult to find and we got lost!

Liked: Location

Disliked: I ve been travellin for many years and this is one of the worst places I ve ever stayed. First of all, the address they gave me was the worst ever (and I live in a country where address are the worst worldwide). It was like a rally to find it. Afterwards, when we arrived there, they didnt know how much do I have to pay, so they tried to charge me more. Besides that, they charge 5 euros for the linen. Internet never worked. The staff was useless, there was a kind girl, but she didnt seem to know sometin about the place and there was this man who look kind of dirty. He entered in our room twice without knocking the door in the middle of the night.... Really, dont stay here, it sucks!

Liked: I liked how close it was to the city centre

Disliked: the man made us all feel very uncomfortable. the building was freezing cold. we missed our train and couldn't make it within checkin time and he made us spend the night outside in the freezing cold, huddled in the doorway of an alley.

Disliked: They charge a "city tax" that was not previously inform, also they charged for blankets and towels, but they didnt give me towels.

Liked: the location was incredible, we got very nice place (appartement) well furnished ( sheet not needed); the staff (Barton)was very friendly and halpful( they wait for us even late) we are very satisfied ( farah and her family)

Liked: It´s location

Disliked: Everything else. I had to wait 25 minutes for someone to open the door when I arrived. They didn´t have any computer available. The fan didn´t work. There was no breakfast. The sheets coast 5 euros and one member of staff was very unprofessional and rude.

Liked: good location

Disliked: shower world go hot and cold and clog up in the drain. no safety, keys dont work to your front door of room so people can walk in at anytime. non helpful staff. you have to pay for bedsheets and in you want to levare your bags there

Liked: It's pretty much old appartments converted so It really felt like home. The kitchen was great, especially considering there is a supermarket about 3 min walk away.

Disliked: The description of getting there was really bad, better to just google maps it. Also it says the tax is 3% on the hostelbookers listing but it was 3 euro. They asked for each night but some people just paid once for the first night.

Liked: It was really close to San Marco

Disliked: This is a "home" atmosphere instead of a typical hostel atmosphere. The owner, Antonio, was a smelly, over-cologned creepy Italian man with no sense of efficiency. The hostel was very cramped with people coming and going. All of the room doors had the same skeleton key lock (so easy for people to come in if they wanted), plus it was frustrating being with girls who didn't care about the safety of their property. Only 2 lockers in the room of 4 beds, and I had to get the owner to replace the lock on one so I could use it (as he had lost most of the keys). The kitchen was helpful, but very little space. The bathroom was disgusting (looked like the shower hadn't been touched in 2 months), even though they "clean" every day. If I wasn't on a budget, I wouldnt' have stayed here.

Liked: Awesome location and great to get around from. That area of Venice is a little nicer than west of St Mark's Square, less touristy but can be a bit of a trek to get to p. roma for the bus and train. Really relaxed atmosphere and welcoming.

Disliked: They lost my booking! I turned up and there was no record of it and when I spoke to someone else he said it had happened to another person. I think they overbook it. They got a campbed out for me but it was pretty stressful and I ended up out of pocket for my deposit. Boo. They did solve the problem to be fair on them.

Liked: It's like staying with friends. I have so many great memories just because I stayed here. The reviews on this site weren't very positive so I only booked for 1 night. That night the staff took us out for a night in Venice. Candice was so much fun and kinda weird (in a cute way). We got back to the hostel around 3am and I met a girl that left for Florence, but came back to this hostel because she missed it. I booked this hostel for the rest of my trip (5 days) and had a blast everyday. Last day, a girl from Japan was celebrating her birthday. The staff cooked her a meal, got her a cake and we all celebrated her birthday. The staff genuinely care about your experience. I consider myself lucky, I almost didn't stay here!! I met great people (staff & other visitors) and had fun hanging out with them. Candace is awesome! I don't know if other hostels are jealous, but they should be. Tips: The Kitchen is the common area Talk to the staff if you're interested in meeting people or going out at night Supermarket is really close (less than a minute), it's a good idea to pick some stuff up. If you see someone in the hostel you haven't met, introduce yourself. If you have met, say hello. Their website http://www.youthvenicehome.com/

Disliked: If you like staying with friends you'll love it. (I did!) If you're expecting a hotel, you might be disappointed in the facilities.

Liked: The location is good, price is low for Venice.

Disliked: The problem with this hostel is that the owner constantly overbooks rooms so that people are transferred to different hostels during the night to get a room. That includes sleeping in a 6-people dorm even though booking a single room (the price stays the same, of course!). You cannot do much about it, because finding a room in Venice at night is impossible. The rooms are not comfortable or clean but that comes maybe with the low price. There are no locks to some of the rooms. The price different people pay for the same room varies a lot. It seems like the one who pays most gets the single room, the rest has to sleep in a dorm or find another place to sleep. Taken together, its a cheap hostel with a good location in Venice, but if you want to make sure you actually have a bed when you arrive after a long journey to Venice, then do not go there !!

Liked: The staff, the most friendly people. Candace went out of her way to assure our experience in Venice was fabulous and it was. I will sure never forget Venice and the amazing people that are part of it, thank you Antonio (Nino) for such a great operations. Candice you are the best!!!

Liked: Really relaxed atomosphere, man who worked there was very helpful and freindly, the hostel was about a 5 minute walk away from St. Marco square so the location was in the middle of everything but far enough away from the masses of tourists

Disliked: Shower was a bit useless, but apart from that nothing

Liked: It's clean, good location and they provide lockers and free maps of the city-these cost 2:50 in tourist info office! There's a kitchen also which is very useful as eating out in Venice is very expensive. Staff were friendly.

Disliked: Very basic for the price but Venice is an expensive city. No common so lacked character.

Liked: Location is great. With the video, it was really easy fo me to find the hostel.

Disliked: I consider that the price was high for the service you get. More specifically the 5euros extra for bed sheet.
