Aniekka KothariTo be honest there wasn't much we liked about this property, it was close to San Marco Square, thats probably it! The staff were pretty helpfull which was also good. About the room, it was not very nice, we had a LOAD of ants crawling around on the carpet. The fan was also pretty rubbish, especially for how hot the rooms get and you dont really want to open the windows too much because of all the mosquitos etc. Considering we paid 90 euros a night we would have liked AC. The room is extremely basic, all you get is the bed, an en-suite (if you choose a private), and a fan. Again for 90 euros a night a tv would be nice, considering your not going to be out of the room for every minute of the day! On the location, it was good if you wanted to be at San Marco Square and spend all your time going to museums etc, however we spent a day visiting museums (if even that), and got pretty bored after! Would recommend you stay on a area/island called Lido as it is the island that has a public beach and generally seemed more lively. The main area with all the clubs and bars is a water bus journey away, but as their are night buses that run throughout the night this is not that much of a issue. Warning to backpackers Venice is ridiculously expensive!!! best avoided, or staying just outside which is cheaper and in our view more worth it considering you pretty much have to get water boats everywhere u go anyway! |

Customer reviewThe hotel was slap bang in the middle of all of the main attractions in Venice. It was very well furnished and the beds were comfortable. The overhead fans looked nice and I'm sure would keep you cool if you can work out how to use them. If you can, be sure to shut the windows as otherwise you will be bitten to buggery during the night. |

Customer reviewFabulous location by all means!!! the challenge is that it's an old building, no elevator, shared bathroom is for 1 person only at a time including shower - rooms are a bit damp from age. |

Wibke SielemannClose to everything, great property, however, better directions for first time visitors to Venice. The staircase was very narrow and hard to climb after a long day of walking |

Customer reviewWe got an apartment away from the hostel itself...it was an alright apartment with a little kitchen that had no pots or anything to cook with, but there were no other people staying close by to meet. The shower leaked everywhere, and we had a problem finding bugs in the apartment (not bed bugs or anything, just a lot of other bugs crawling the floors). Nice location still, but I would try and find something with a better value (maybe fork up the extra cash in Venice to have a nice place). |

Esther Marmetlocation is very good. not too hard to find, very near to st. marks square and public transport system. room quite small and hardly any furniture besides the bed. lots of stairs to climb to get to the reception. nice staff. only small towel included if you haven't got your own bathroom. |

Customer reviewThe Good: It's got a very good location, only about a 5 - 10 minute walk away from San Marcos square (30 mins for me because I stopped at all the shops to look at the Murano glass and Venisian masks :-P ) Our room came with a private bath and kitchen facilities which were very handy. The staff was friendly and there was a shop with food and other necessities right next door. The Bad: We were put in a different building from where the reception is. While this isn't the end of the world, it does make it extremely inconvenient if you have any questions to ask at reception, especially concidering that we had to tackle 4 or so flights of stairs in each building (Those were steep stairs. I tackled many of the duomos in all different churches and didn't feel half as tired as I did to go from my room to the reception). Also, this is probably the only hotel that didn't have any maps. We asked for one and they said because they were all free, they didn't last long. Well, Venice is not the city you want to be in without a good map, so we had to go buy one at the nearby store. The Ugly: It was the dirtiest hostel we had stayed in, it was bug infested, and the bathroom door did not close (not that it didn't lock, it didn't CLOSE). For those of us that were tall enough, we could stretch and keep it closed with the tips of our fingers. Unfortunately, one of the people I travelled with is 5'2" and couldn't reach, so she had to keep it closed with the toilet's cleaning wand. |
