Liked: location is best - very close to San Marco square. My girlfriend and I booked a shared room but arrived and were offered a private room for the same price, which we gladly accepted.

Liked: This hostel was very hard to find. The directions on the site make it look like it takes 15 minutes from the central station, but it atually takes closer to an hour. It's possible to take a boat for 7 euros to get much closer to the square which is near the hotel, but my friend and I didn't want to spend the extra money. I would recommend taking the boat.The reason I still recommend this hostel is because it seemed like hoels across venice were 1. expensive and 2. dificult to find. We ran into a number of Americans staying at different hotels and they all pretty much said it took a while to find.Another annoying thing is that this hostel only had ONE toilet and shower, which you can only use up until midnight (that is the shower is off access after midnight until 8 am, not th etoilet of course). So I had to wait 20 minutes ot shower the next morning.But Venice is an incredible city, and the hotel was still nice once we found it.

Liked: This is one of the cheapest places on the main island, and its worth the money. I booked a dorm room but got a twin, and the room was in another building, so it was not a good place to meet people, but it was quiet and safe and in a good location - close to sights and to the vaporetti boats. The downside is the lack of amenities - no internet, no safes, no breakfast, and not even free maps. But from asking around, all these things are hard to find in Venice. It was a great value for the price if you just want a simple, clean place to sleep.

Liked: In Venice a cheap place to stay can be hard to find. Casa Linger is a pretty cheap and just a short walk from Pza. San Marco. The staff is also quite helpful and friendly; they let me stay even though their computers were down and they couldn't verify my reservation at check-in. You can't beat a deal like this with a Gondola oar.
