About Albergo Locanda La Bandita

The Locanda la Bandita is an old farm house built in the early 1800 and restored with care and passion by its owners. With the word "bandita" it indicates a natural reserve, or territory, where it is prohibited to hunt, fish or graze cattle.

Our family comes from this area and has lived here since 1975. For the last twenty years we have offered our guests the possibility of a peaceful and relaxing stay in one of the most beautiful areas of the Tuscany countryside, the Val di Chiana.

A particular link with the countryside, gardening and the outside lifestyle characterises our inn-keeping business. We try to express the love of which we try to transmit to our guests regarding the simple and genuine things in life. All of this is reflected in the style of service offered, both friendly and spontaneous.

Breakfast is included in the booking and is served in a beautiful restaurant dining area on the ground floor, or in the courtyard during the better weather. Respecting the old Tuscany traditions you can also try typical local products such as sheep cheese and cured salted ham, fresh eggs, good Tuscany bread, jams made from quince apples and figs and cakes – all home-made.

The Locanda is surrounded by a large courtyard, a beautiful pinewood, lots of flowering plants and an olive grove: immersed between the olives, in a peaceful corner of the garden you will find our open-air swimming pool.

The Bandita is therefore both welcoming and relaxing, where guests feel at home and can easily enjoy a stay (designed) for relax and the quite life.

The Locanda is made up of nine welcoming bedrooms, seven of which can be found on the 1st floor of the main building, while the other two are situated on the ground floor, with direct access to the courtyard and the pinewood. The bedrooms are furnished both simply and romantically with old and antique furniture.

Two of the bedrooms on the 1st floor look out over a balcony with flowers. From the "Torre" bedroom, thanks to its internal staircase, you can reach the bathroom which is situated in the roof "pigeon loft" of the house. From the large windows of this very spacious and well illuminated room, you can enjoy a fantastic birds-eye view of the Tuscany countryside.

All the bedrooms have private bathrooms, with hair-dryers and heating, while the beds are fitted with very comfortable orthopaedic mattresses and bases.

The dining room is situated in a part of the old cattle-shed of the old building and has a pleasant atmosphere, characterised by a large fire-place and few tables. This room looks out onto the internal courtyard of the estate and in the summer it is possible for guests to eat and enjoy the restaurant outside.

The Locanda kitchen offers a menu which is based on seasonal and locally grown produce, such as the "Chianina" beef, the Cinta senese (pork), extra virgin olive oil and local sheep cheese (consumed with a glass of Verduzzo dolce Dulcedo wine). All served with herbs and fresh vegetables from our vegetable garden. The wine list however offers a large selection of great red Tuscany wines.

Many are the choices of dishes available in the restaurant to tantalise the guests with tastes and flavours of Tuscany cooking: amongst the pasta courses the presence of Pici (pasta) with Cinta Senese cheek, artichokes and broad beans, and Paccheri (pasta) of Val d’Orcia with peas and matured ricotta cheese.

The main courses are particularly tasty of which the most important are the pork spare ribs with fennel flowers and home grown olives, sliced beef with green salad, green pepper and rucola salad sauce, and for fish lovers, fillet of fish with artichokes cooked in Vernaccia wine sauce.

Amongst the home-made puddings prepared, the choice starts with cantucci with Vin Santo wine, plain dark chocolate Tuscany cake with Pistacchio ice-cream, warm apple cakes with cinnamon cream sauce and other delicious specialities.
