Liked: I had an amazing stay at the SunMoon Hostel. The caretaker there, Jules, was amazing! He was so kind and funny. He gave us plenty of advice and even told us the best place to go out to the club. OH! And he made us free dinner every night... The rooms were quaint. The only thing I would say is that the bathrooms are shared... but they are at most hostels... It was easy to meet people there, especially when we're all meeting at 8:30 PM for dinner together... Also, the location was perfect... We ended up walking everywhere... the Colosseum, the Pantheon, the Fountain di Trevi, the Forum, the Palatino... yes, it's a long walk but we were fine... the only thing we took a metro to was the Vatican. Not to mention, the hostel is maybe 3 blocks from the main metro line... Very convenient.... And... Security is pretty good because you need to be buzzed in from downstairs and also all the rooms have locks... with only one key that you have... They don't even have another key... Great place! Absolutely recommend it!

Liked: The best receptionist / cook / information person and general go-to guy ever. If you need to know anything he calls some friend of his and finds out for you. breakfast and dinner provided, he cooks, its yum, and with a glass of coke, airconditioned rooms. really liked this place!

Liked: Their computer had broken down so they didn't have our reservation. We paid for a 4-bed dorm, got put in a 10-bed dorm, moved to a 6-bed dorm and finally when we said we had a 4-bed dorm reservation they got us one.. But what a hassle!

Liked: The beds were clean. Breakfast of toast, marmelade, and nutella every morning, and a pasta dinner every night. Jules on the staff was hilarious and very welcoming. The dorm rooms were noisy, but a good place to meet new people

Liked: Location was okay. Easily accesible to many of the main attractions, providing you're willing to walk a fair way, and also situated next to the Termini Station which is handy for us backpackers!

Liked: On our trip across Italy, we stayed in Rome, Venice, Riomaggiore, and Florence and this was the most expensive of all of those places, but probably the third nicest of the four. The location was terrific, close to the Termini train and Metro stations. Though we checked in at the main hostel, we had a private room in an apartment building not too far away. It was a quiet place, with the nicest bed we had in any of our hotels in Italy. Though it wasn't terribly hot, there was a fan. They also offered 30 minutes of free internet a day and breakfast (toast and coffee). The only problems we had were with our shower and sink -- not much water came out of either. The neighborhood didn't seem to be the safest to be in after dark, but during the day, there were lots of restaurants, cafes, and markets open. We came back to Rome the following week and stayed in Plus Camping Roma and if we returned, we would be more likely to stay at the latter than the former, for the price but if it's important to you to actually be in the city, with immediate access to the train and metro, this place is not a bad deal.

Liked: The best thing about this hostel is the location, right by Termini Station where you can take trains out of town and both lines of the metro around Rome, plus they offer 30 minutes of free internet access a day. If you stay here for four days, you get a load of laundry for free! The closest sites are the Baths of Diocletian, Republic Fountain, and Santa Maria di Maggiore, all within walking distance. The Spanish Steps and Coloseum, Palantine Hill, and Roman Forum are metro accessible but little else is. Breakfast is a joke -- plain white bread and butter or jam, plus coffee and there are lots of affordable places to eat in this diverse area, as well as an affordable grocery store in the train station and another one across from Santa Maria di Maggiore. They offer dinner on the weekends from 8:30 to 10:30 but we decided to pass on that, so we can not comment. They have laundry facilities too, but they will cost you an arm and a leg. We stayed in an apartment in a separate building from the hostel. with a good bed and nice view. While the hot water worked, the shower was not very good and neither was the sink faucet. The television was broken too. The administration also charged us twice for our deposit, said they would take care of it via email, and then refused to come down on the balance to make up the difference but after some very persistent arguments from us and showing them the email communication, they gave up and took the cost of the second deposit of the balance. If you have any problems in advance with your booking, be sure to contact them and get something in writing before you go! Although this review may sound somewhat negative, overall we had a pretty good experience and were glad we stayed in such a good location. For the price, it was worth it!

Liked: Close to the Termini, other than that, not too many pluses. Overbooked and gave one of our beds to someone else, so we had to pay more to get a private room.

Liked: Good location from the termini. They provided breakfast and dinner (good value) - all within the cost - and good service. Sunmoons have 6 different hostels around the area so you could stay at any one of these, but these are all located within the same block (or around the corner) so still good distances from the termini.They did charge to store bags for the day of our departure (only €3 though).All up, good location and the staff try hard to accomodate you.
