Liked: I think that Ottaviano Hostel isn't the best place to stay in Rome, it wasn't very clean, it wasn't very fun, but... if you want to visit Vatican City the location is perfect!

Liked: Good wifi, microwave available, location. An average rating of roughly 70-75% is in line with the ratings of similar hostels i went to in paris or london

Disliked: mold smell in shower room, toilet and shower room appenrently without a functionning lock, but no big deal for backpackers.

Liked: Location.

Disliked: Terrible beds, showers without any privacy, no kitchen. Place to stay if you only care about the location.

Liked: Amazing location....St. Peters' Square is like a hundred feet away. Warm welcoming nature of the the staff and greatly helpful.

Disliked: The showers were a little bit unclean. That was the only hiccup moment during the stay.

Liked: It is very close to the Vatican City. It is also quite close to a supermarket and smaller mini marts. The staff members were very courteous and warm.

Disliked: There isn't a common space for people to just sit down and chill out. Also, I didn't really like that there weren't locks on the doors to the rooms. You should also note that you'll need your own locks for the lockers in the rooms.

Liked: Location next to the vatican, kind of a cute street. Free internet and computer. They let us leave our bags but we did have to leave them in the middle of the lobby.

Disliked: THE TRAM! Right outside and every 15 minutes, ouch. Bathroom out of order. If you don't have a key you have to ring the bell at any hour of night, we had a horror story of a drunken girl ringing the bell at 4 in the morning, staff was very strict but she was annoying, and you can only get to the door so quickly, woke the whole hostel up.

Liked: Near Vatican, close to the most of tourist attractions. Good Wi-Fi connection

Disliked: In the bathrooms there were no holders for the towels and no shelfs in the shower cubicle

Liked: The location was perfect. Right near the metro and next to the Vatican City. It was easy to walk from one side of Rome and back again as everything is so close together. It was in a safe complex with great security. The staff were extremely helpful and always there to offer advice or assistance when needed. The beds were very comfortable, not saggy at all, and the room was a great size. There were lockers as well, which was an added bonus. I was concerned about the noise as it is on a main road, but slept perfectly every night and the noise didn't bother me at all...I had earplugs on hand but didn't need them. As a solo female traveller, I felt very safe in the hostel and also to walk around the streets nearby on my own.

Disliked: Although I was aware of the lockout between 11 - 2.30pm it was still a bit of a pain, especially when some days it was so hot. Luckily there is a nice park across the street where you could sit or lay in the shade and watch the people around. Also, the showers were a bit small for me, and I would have to undress in the main area of the bathroom and then quickly jump into the shower before someone else came in as there was no lock on the main bathroom door. I only got caught once lol.

Liked: location was perfect and free internet access.

Disliked: disgusting bathrooms- no locks on the doors. they were not cleaned once while we were there! toilets were also gross..... there were no towels to hire either- we were offed sheets and pillowcases instead. tip- if you are desperate for accommodation it is OK... but... dont come without Flipflops for the showers!

Liked: Just its location which is close to Vatican's gate, metro and bus stop. Like also its free wireless facility.

Disliked: Bathroom is so small and narrow. I couldn't easily move to dry up my body after shower. If I have a chance to visit Rome in other time, i totally wouldn't stay in this hostel.

Disliked: Lack of proper kitchen, and a safe/secure box to keep valuables would be useful.

Disliked: Staff weren't very helpful. Kitchen consists of a microwave.

Liked: the hostel is located in an old, very nice building. every guest gets a key, others can not enter the hostel, very safe.

Disliked: the showers and toilets are located in the reception/sitting area and do not have windows thus air is damp and musty. mattresses are of bad quality but it's still ok for a short stay.

Liked: It was very close to the Vatican

Disliked: Secure enough but once in you could not lock your room and there were limited lockable lockers, Beds missing springs so were like hammocks and the poorest bathrooms I have experienced, Showers too small to change in so had to do so in front of them...in a COED shower area while standing on a dirty wet bed sheet. Toilets directly next to internet area with half door missing so had to experience others bowel movements. Cash only. Very basic and ok location. Overpriced for the quality.

Disliked: Very dirty, disgusting showers. Extremely loud streets right outside of bedroom windows. Extremely uncomfortable beds.

Disliked: We were not at all used to the dorm style...and it was a mixed dorm...even more awkward!

Liked: It's in a great location right next to the Vatican city and has a metro stop right next to it so (when there isn't a strike!) It's in a great location to get to it from the station easily! It is kept pretty clean by the staff. There was free wifi (I think) but also a computer for those who didn't have their own laptop with them which was very handy!

Disliked: Staff took a bit of warming up before they were really talkative. The most helpful was a guy who wasn't actually working there any more while the girl who was didn't really offer much information, although they were pretty helpful when we had to find a new hostel for a night we hadn't booked by mentioning other places and giving us names of people they knew there! The Bathroom were clean although unfortunately one of the 3 showers wasn't working while we were there but it was fine.
