Liked: nothing

Disliked: the breakfast which is included in the price is not a breakfast (only one kind of cereal and no milk). The room was in the basement. EVERYTHING was old and halfbroken. Way too far away from the city. Bad service.

Liked: The place was very clean and tidy, really good shower facilities, extremely friendly and helpful staff. A few restaurants, and a supermarket very near by. Cooking facilities and somewhere to eat.

Disliked: It is a little far out, so if you are not keen on navigating the buses and the metro, this one is probably not for you. Breakfast was POOR! It consisted of stale cornflakes, way too strong coffee, cold and weak tea. There were Croissants on offer too (although they were hidden away!) but when we opened the packet it had mould all the way through, which was a very nasty surprise!

Liked: Peter Pan is a wonderful place of magic and mystery. I have so many memories hanging out in the veranda at night, it seems like a dream. Actually, I liked it so much I even got married there! Sonia, if you're reading this-- I'm looking forward to our honeymoon ;)

Disliked: Rebibbia is not in the center of Rome. But you can purchase whatever you need around there.

Liked: There was a very sweet cat that greeted all the hostel stayers. The beds were comfortable and the gentleman at the front desk was honest and kind.

Disliked: The entire place was not very clean, there was a horrible woman working in the kitchen with a bad attitude who was cleaning the kitchen whilst we were cooking, she was unfriendly and the whole place was very unhygenic. The shower upstairs pours directly into a power point which is dangerous and the walls are paper-thin.

Liked: Great breakfast! Also they have a fully fledged kitchen and are close to some supermarkets. A definite plus for those travelling on a showstring.

Disliked: The shared bathrooms left a little to be desired. Also was slightly out of the main city - although travelling in was not too hard.

Liked: It's rather cheap. The breakfast is simple, but okay.

Disliked: You have to ask for clean linen, it's not a basic service. The hostel is dirty with ignorant staff. If you stay in the dormitory, you should prepare to share your room with some very strange (and sometimes disgusting) people.

Liked: Liked: the staff was rather helpful. The breakfast was a little "PLUS" but it helps just to get to nearest trattoria or supermarket - because you will feel hungry within 15 minutes again!

Disliked: Disliked: the showers were dirty. There were problems with the soap. It was rather wet in toilets and in rooms. Doors are very loud - if anyone opens any door, it makes a real crash. The location of hostel is poor. Though you can easily get there from metro Rebibbia. You can take bus 343, 344, 404,444, 163 from Rebibbia - and get off at the FIRST stop after left turn from via Tuburtina. You must demand for the stop just after this left turn.

Liked: Nothing.

Disliked: The character and cleanliness was non-existent. The staff was slow and very hard to work with. We stood at the desk for an hour trying to check in. Very inefficient. There were bugs in the rooms, sheets were filthy, one bathroom, no hot water. Neighborhood was very unsafe and dirty. Not well lit, hard to find. Do not stay here. It ruined a lot of our Rome experience.

Liked: You get what you pay for. This is the cheapest hostal in Rome, but it is about 45 minutes total travel time between bus and metro to the Termini station. It was not too horrendous. And again, you get what you pay for. But for 10 Euro average, it was not really bad.

Disliked: The bathroom where not cleaned every day, actually it was every third day. At the end of the day, this is the only real complaint that I have.

Liked: the staff were very friendly and you could use the computer for free, very good wi-fi connection.

Disliked: the breakfast was cornflakes, coffee/tea and bread, no choice. I was bitten all over my skin by bed bugs and the only communal space was the dinning are, which smokers spent their evenings in and limited my use as a non smoker. getting to the hostel is not simple, a 20 minute metro ride ride followed by a 5-10 minute bus ride.

Liked: I stayed at this hostel more than one time (I did day trips to other cities and some one or two nights and returned to rome and this hostel.) In total, I think I stayed a total of 3 weeks. I read the reviews prior to coming and there were many negative ones. Because I understand that "I wera different shoes", and may adjust more easily to somethings, or that some things may not really bother me as much, I decided to find out for myself. Plus it was in my budget I have been to many hostels in the year+ that I have traveled, and I found this hostel for the price (for Rome) is a very fair deal. The place is Not emaculate, but it is Not badly kept at the same time. The beds sheets were changed after leaving and the gal cleaned every day the kitchen, the dining area, the bathrooms, and shower areas. It was fine, and If I noticed a mess (like puke or something) in the bathroom, all I had to do was mention it to the gal who cleans and it was taken care of. - they cannot see everything at all times -(that only happened once). there was a little Christmas tree up when I arrived (a few days before christmas) and the cats that hang around sometimes are very sweet cats. The kitchen hours are different, but easy to work around (if you are there all day) But for the most part, most people are out touring about during these hours. You can still get your things out of the refridgerator in the mornings, you are just not really supose to cook from,7:30 - 12noon. So, I boiled my eggs the night before and had my eggs with my sweet bread that was included for breakfast. (think ahead and you can work with it). The kitchen is open for use from 12noon -3PM then closes, and reopens again for use, from 6PM -10,11,12midnight, depending on the mood of the night. Maybe because of how long I stayed or maybe because of how I did what I did, that they did not mind when I asked to make my own espresso coffee in the mornings. I think knowing this ahead of time, should help you , after that, the problem is with you and your lack of honest perspective . I believe that some of the people that work here also live here, and is the reason for the kitchen hours( gives them the kitchen to themselves for some periods of the day and probably makes it easier to keep the kitchen clean). speaking of that, I found that it was cleaned every day and that most people who stayed at this hostel did clean up after themselves and many would share dinners. It was a nice environment to be in, I started it out with being nice to them and considered their position. They were very nice to me, and the respect went both ways. I had lots of very good experiences with others who were staying here....family type of atmosphere, people were open to sharing. It is not a party place, which is why I chose it. I also like to be away from the city. - The neighbor hood looks 'sketchy', but it is not. - It is an average and nice neighborhood and there is no concern for walking at night, and there is a super americada just up the road with food, wine and beer etc., prices are good. The bus is on the main street - a night bus (2N) can bring you To the termini or From the termini, but is only availible in the 'off' hours of the nights. . (just remember to stand on the correct side of the bus pick up area when at the main central termini (there are two buses and both go the same route, but begin on one side and return back to the termini before heading to the other side of the route.....so if you get on the bus that is pointed towards the termini station, you are in for a VERY long bus ride (1+hour). . board the bus on the opposite side that faces the general direction of the hostel and faces away from the front of the termini entrance. the hostel gives you the regular bus numbers to take from the 2nd train station closest to the in the hostel, because this one has the local buses (street level) that your ticket is good for- and are waiting outside the station for you. When the bus makes the left hand turn, up S. Bascilo, look up ahead for the gas station on the left and upon seeing it, push the stop button....you will be close to the street.you want when it stops, take a right on it. The metro is only 1 Euro and it gives you 70 minutes each time and includes all buses. Rome is a nice city by day or by night, and a nice city to walk around in at either time. I had no problem walking alone at either times. Subways are easy and so are the buses (after you get your bearings). I was at this hostel in the colder winter months, and spent Christmas here. I spent a total of 3 weeks at this hostel. It worked out jus fine.

Disliked: The Downside about this property, is that sound Travels Loudly through the building's construction. Mere talking in the hallways is heard loud and clear in the bedroom(s) and people who are not wispering at late or very early hours of the morning , or who are dragging chairs across the floor instead of picking them up and moving them, is heard loudly and is VERY disturbing for people trying to sleep throughout the building, due to the echo it makes. Easiest solution would be to put something on the feet of the chairs that avoids this noise.- like the sof pads used to protect wood floors; only for this is to help control noise. It is Especially a problem in the women's dorm and the upstairs bedroom above the women's doorm (I was told by another); which, are right next to the dining and very close to the entryway. - Others do not realize how their voices carry, and how the sound carries,- and this includes the television noise (which did seem be controlled in the late night hours). It would be a good idea to put a sign on the wall near the TV that says one must push the actual button attached to the side of the tv screen, in order to turn it off. (or it comes back on). I did not know this and could not get it to turn off and everyone was already off duty and I had to leave it on with the sound turned down. It would also be a good idea to Lable The Cabinets and area that are for free food that people have left behind for others to use with "FREE" food. - so it is clear- to all who use the cabinet of what it is for. (in all Languages ). Sometimes I was not sure and glad that I asked first before I made the mistake of using something that I was not suppose to use. - anything not labeled in the refridgerator as well - not labeled usually means anyone can use it or have it - Have lables that people can use to write their names and room numbers on and include a thick black marker (tied on a string) near the area for this. (keep the marker stocked) works very well in other hostels. Also, changing or fixing the locks on the shower stall doors would make for a simple quick fix for the flooding in the women's main floor shower area. (some do not closeand latch), The bed room could be mopped a tad more frequently to keep the floor cleaner, would be better. The place is Not emaculate, but it is Not badly kept at the same time. One more thing.....Would be a good idea to put a sign on the women's dormitory that states Do Not Leave ANY Food, Candy (hard or soft) or Throat Losenges, Pop/soda, etc.- in the lockers, in their suitcases, or in tied garbage bags, ....due to the ants that come that can smell it; they will still come trying to figure out how to get to what they smell, and will be a problem. .....Because the ants get into the beds during their serch for the food. This was only controlled during my stay when when I took the time to tell the girls staying in the room about it as I met them. I did not generalize - I told them in detail of what not to keep in the room. - I was staying there longer, so it mattered to me( I had already been bitten). Problem was gone - (maybe the hostel used something as well) Any way, they are tiny brown ants not large ones, but they still bite when they are on you and come by the hundreds when they smell food. Other than these things, I thought it was a good hostel for those more like myself , that don't mind or rather like a little train ride and for those that are also good walkers about the city. if you are, you can easily use only 1 Euro to town and 1 Euro back (PS. I walked easily from the coliseum to the Vatican and throughout with no problem. and it would also be for those on a budget, and for those who prefer to be away from all the business and in a quiet neighborhood; of which this was.

Liked: It had a good kitchen for use by guests

Disliked: Terrible directions, terrible wifi, dirty and smelly, worst location of any Rome hostel. When you take the bus from the station, get off at the 1st stop on the road that the Hostel tells you to get off at. We didn't know which one to get off at and ended up walking over 2 miles at midnight with our packs (which held 3 months worth of traveling attire).
