Liked: The Yellow is fun and a good place to meet people, especially in the bar downstairs. My dorm rooms was fairly spacious and had a cage under the bed to lock my bag in. The bathrooms were clean enough and the showers worked well!

Disliked: The termini area isn't great but it seems to be where all the cheap accommodation is located in Rome, and it's easy enough to get to tourist destinations. The hostel was pretty noisy though, with lots of slamming doors, so bring earplugs!

Liked: great location, near the train station

Disliked: problems with the lock on the room. no hooks in the showers so hard to stop things from getting wet. lots of noise from bar downstairs. wifi only available in the bar

Liked: Really nice staff, usage of ipads for half an hour was really cool, good location

Disliked: no eating allowed in the rooms which meant we had to bring our own food into the bar area, which didnt seem to go down too well with the morning staff.

Liked: Great atmosphere and location - a really brilliant place to meet people. Whilst a bit pricey, the experience made up for it.

Disliked: The breakfast options need to be better - cheap can also meet tasty! Also, whilst the staff were helpful, a smile now and then would be good.

Disliked: Quite a bit unfortunately..see below (copied from above) I'm probably one of the more discerning travellers and I haven't really had a lot of time to rate my various experiences in european hostels. So this is the first and I think for good reason. Overall, in the past two months, I've been quite satisfied (and sometimes quite surprised) at the quality and value for money of hostel accommodation in Europe. My impression is that this hostel sees itself as somewhat "special" and upmarket, given its sell on HB website, however, overall I think it is misleading. Indeed, I made it a priority to stay here on the basis of a recommendation from a fellow traveller (normally a good start). Yet, scratch beneath the surface with this place and there's nothing really to write home about. I grant the fact that there is quite a nice bar with what seems like an extended happy hour...most budget travellers might froth at the mouth at this prospect, whether you like a drink or not. Yet I was still paid 4 euros for a beer. Does that mean I would pay 8 at a normal rate? If so, the happy hour is not so happy. Don't get me wrong, I understand customer service during the tourist season may wear down the most friendly and jovial of personalities, however, the reception staff (or the ones I experienced anyway) don't exactly greet you with a smile or really take an interest in you (which is probably worse given the fact that a smile is not always everyone's style). Lesson number one in customer relations out the window from the start, along with my first real impression of Rome hospitality. Second, they don't accept credit without wacking you with unreasonable credit card fees (something in the are of 10 euros all up). There goes your cash to spend on your first night/day in rome. The rooms are pretty much what you get elsewhere, but I've experienced better in less rated places. The shower was like a broom cupboard separate to the adjoining bathroom which was reasonably clean but had a continuous stench of urine. Ok, I've come to accept "human" odour as almost the norm when staying in hostel (how could you avoid it really especially in a dorm), but this was not good. I could go on, but I will stop here. But before I do, let me not forget my experience with breakfast. I think it is reasonable to pay something for breakfast above the price in a hostel but if you do it better be pretty good. Otherwise you might take your taste buds and hunger pains elsewhere (let's face it in most hostels you don't pay and on the whole breakfast has been very good in most places I've stayed). For 4 euro I thought I would get muesli, fresh fruit, yogurt and my choice of juice or coffee. What I got was a bowl of muesli, some milk with a meagre sprinkling of fruit on top. No yoghurt, No Juice. And then, within 30 seconds the bill was on the table. Often you might let something like this go, but the bill bit got to me. When I pointed out to them that there was no yogurt they replied with "the kitchen hasn't got any yogurt". When I suggested that they might give me something else to replace the yogurt..it was like I had asked them for the crown jewels. The look on their face was as if they had been sentenced to 20 years hard labour in a russian gulag......Are you starting to get the picture?

Liked: The bar is a great place to meet people and the staff are always ready to help if you need anything. The hostel was clean and there was a place to lock up your belongings under the beds. I was satisfied.

Liked: Usage of iPad for internet was great...provided the internet connection works! Great atmosphere to meet people.

Disliked: The hot water was intermittent, not consistent, the shower plumbing smelt, however rest of the hostel was great. Do not eat at the restaurant across the road, food was cold and terrible.

Liked: Great restaurant/bar area where it's easy to relax and meet fellow travelers after a long day of sightseeing. The bar staff is really friendly and fun too. The rooms are big and bathrooms are clean.

Disliked: They force you inside after midnight because of issues with the neighbors. You can still hang out forever in the bar inside, but it's pretty hot and stuffy.

Liked: Location was excellent for the train station. Walking distance was far for many attractions. Safety and security was great.

Disliked: The bathrooms were quite dirty and there wasn't air conditioning in some rooms while there was in others. There was no free breakfast which also was not the greatest. The internet was free but the computers were constantly being used. There could have been a much better system for usage of the computers such as a sign up or queue.

Liked: The Yellow is a great place to meet people as they are constantly providing entertaining nights. Location is pretty good.. though somewhat far from major attractions- obviously still a good location because it is in the center of Rome.

Disliked: The hostel is definitely over-priced. The rooms are supposedly air conditioned but that only lasted the first few hours I was there.

Disliked: The hotel staff was friendly, but unhelpful with a few issues. Perhaps just because it is a busy time of year.

Disliked: i have a towel but 10Euro deposit for a towel is excessive. i have a laptop but if you borrow theirs for too long it could cost you 100Euros not kidding its true you basically buy a share in the thing, even though they have your passport as deposit.
