The fresh goods of the summer climate invites extraordinary appetites and permits one to enjoy even food with a stronger flavor, just like I the autumn, the greediest season for those who love home-cooking, the period in which foods like mushrooms, chestnuts and others abound. Amongst the specialties of the house we would like to point out homemade macaroni with tomato sauce au wild pig of the Nebrodi, Pappardelle with porcini mushrooms, Tagliatelle with tomato sauce au wild hare or rabbit. The most appreciated meat dish is without a doubt barbecued meat, but no less important are sweet-sour hare and rabbit, roast leg of lamb, and others. The desserts are also traditional and deserve to be tasted.

Location Information

The geographic location of the Uliveto is truly enviable because, even thought situated in the middle of the countryside, it is easy to reach some of the more beautiful localities of the zone.

A fifteen-minute drive will take you to the beautiful, world renowned city of Cefalù. After a ten-minute drive you cane be in Pollina, home of the most important Valtur Villages in Europe. In addition, the following cities are within easy reach: Capo D'Orlando; Milazzo (where the ferries for the Aeolian Islands leave); S. Stefano di Camastra (a city known for its ceramics); Mistretta-an ancient Medieval suburb, home of master stone-cutters (masters in cutting local stones and creating real masterpieces) where one can admire ancient buildings, homes of the nobility, neighborhoods such as the "Ruccazzù" and"u Castieddu" with their stupendous churches , rich with important statues by Gaggini. Those who would like to visit Reitano can admire the Mother Church with its statues ofSt. Erasmus (the city's patron saint), of the Madonna of the Mercedes (sculpture in marble by Gaggini) etc. At Villa Margi (which is, because of the vastness of its beaches and its geographical position, the destination of the sunbathing tourist) the visitor can also admire the sculpture "Finestra sul Mare" (Ndt "Window on the Sea") which is part of the Collection "Fiumara D'Arte", a important outdoor itinerary in the communities of Reitano, Mistretta, Pettineo, Castel di Lucio and Tusa with works of modern art realized by distinguished sculptors. We can't forget the importance of the Park of the Nebrodi with its breath-taking panoramas like the Lake "Beviere", the Rocce del Crasto (calcareous rocks characterized by deep fissures which make it easier for rapacious birds, like the Royal Eagle, to nest).
