Liked: The location was good and the staff were friendly.

Disliked: The hotel had a cat but did not advertise this. As I am allergic, I spent my time there wheezing and sneezing with the result that I didn't enjoy it that much!

Liked: We stayed in Lucca for two nights and loved this B&B. It was just like staying at our grandmothers (except Italian!). The rooms were cute and the homely lounge area was full of character. We had the best sleep of our two week trip of Italy - our room was really quiet, comfy bed and wooden shutters so it was totally dark at night. The location was perfect - not in amongst the busy streets but still close enough to walk to everything. Some excellent local restaurants near by too (ask the hosts for recommendations!) Breakfast was great (don't expect a Full English here - this is Italy!) with a spread of fresh hot coffee, bread, cakes, cereal, meat and cheese. And the most memorable part - our hosts, who were welcoming and extremely helpful. They speak mainly Italian (again, this is Italy!) but don't let that put you off. This is a genuine experience and we can't wait to go back!

Liked: Great value for the price! Moreover, atmosphere oldschool but not in an annoying way! Actually great staff, though they don't speak much english. Even though, they are perfectly communicative, so don't worry. Nice big rooms in the very very center of the old town of Lucca.

Disliked: Everything was just fine!

Liked: Excellent atmosphere. Good location. Very friendly and eccentric owner, that only speaks Italian, so be sure to practice a bit beforehand :)

Disliked: WIFI did not work.

Liked: The owner is incredibly friendly and helpful. The place is literally is her house and you are allowed to use any of it. Huge room and a nice breakfast. When we arrived she took us through a map of the town and showed us all the good places to eat. There is also Wifi and free use of computer and printer (we checked in and printed out our boarding passes for the homeward flights here!)

Disliked: The bathroom is shared between however many guests there are (6 + baby when we were there!) Didn't have to queue, but we showered at night to avoid it.

Liked: At first we felt like we were just walking into someones house but it didn't take long for it to feel homely and welcome. The 2 ladies running the hotel were very helpful with recommendations considering the language barrier and provided a lovely breakfast.

Disliked: Only one bathroom for quite a few rooms. We never had to wait but could be annoying if you did have to, especially as the shower and toilet were in the same room.

Liked: Host is very kind and friendly. Room was large. Wifi was good.

Disliked: The breakfast is TERRIBLE! Everything was SO stale!!! Not hard to get fresh bread, there's a bakery just outside. We didn't even bother with it the second day which is frustrating if you are paying for it.

Liked: Lucca is a quaint town and property is close to the city walls - perfect spot for a picnic watching the sunset. Only about 15 minutes walk from the train station.

Disliked: Needs a second bathroom for the rooms that are sharing - one bathroom between about 10 people meant that you generally had to wait to be able to use it. Breakfast could also be improved - croissants pre packaged in plastic, cheese slices in plastic, salami, jams, chocolate spread and cornflakes. Fresh pastries from a bakery and freshly sliced cheese would make a big difference! Staff were friendly but very minimal English meant some of our questions were not understood so therefore not answered. Interior of place quite gaudy and overdone, cluttered. Wifi did not work in our room - only in living area, and sometimes was extremely slow or didnt work at all

Liked: Very friendly staff (the familily owning the B&B-place). Nice, clean, large and comfortable room. Good atmosphere. Shared bathroom, but large and clean and not to many people sharing it.

Liked: Very helpful staff and nothing was too much trouble.So handy to shops,markets the Information centre and the wall.We asked Anna for instructions on how to get to La Gemma and she recommended we catch a cab. I would recommend this from the station as it is only 8euro .We even borrowed cutlery for our picnic on the wall.

Liked: What a find! Rooms full of clutter and colour BUT incredibly homely! This must be one of the most relaxing places that we have ever stayed in and if we ever return to Lucca, this will be our first choice of accommodation if they have a room WITH a bathroom - that was the only drawback to our stay there. It seemed as though two sisters ran the place - very friendly, but they could only speak odd words of English, which we shouldn't complain about because we only bothered to learn a few words of Italian. Continental breakfast was on a help yourself basis, basic but filling. There isn't a dining room - there are a couple of small tables in the lounge area and then there are seats and sofas to sit at and use the coffee table as a breakfast table, so even breakfast gives a do as -you would at home feel! Great accommodation when on a budget.

Disliked: Having to queue to use the bathroom. Very annoying if you just need the loo and someone is having a bath or shower. I think there is only one room available with it's own bathroom, so that leaves 5 rooms and possibly 10 people, using the main bathroom.

Liked: Very nice ambiance in the room we stayed in ("Pablo" room). Well decorated. Relatively comfortable bed. Very close to place to rent bikes and bike the ramparts of Lucca. Owner let us leave bags there after check out time.

Disliked: Owner doesn't speak much English at all, though we were able to get basic communication across.
