Liked: Really friendly and helpful staff, lovely building and great facilities. Excellent €5 breakfast too!

Disliked: The owner waited until 8o'clock, even though I put 11, and then we went to a party. A chance somebody passed behind the door when we knocked because we would have slept outside. Very badly managed hostel...

Liked: The location is good, especially if you come with your own car. You can park for free in front of your hostel and you're right outside of the walls of Lucca. The hostel is clean and there is a fridge in the dorm. There's a nice bar just at the corner called "La Siesta".

Disliked: No facility to cook. Internet is chargeable and very expensive (3 euros for 15 min of wifi). So is the breakfast (5 euros). The windows couldn't be opened properly. And the aircon didn't work. I just couldn't sleep because it was really too hot. I didn't manage to get a key opening the dorm, I had to follow the other guests. The staff leaves very early, and is not helpful nor very friendly. There is no locker.

Liked: dorm is in cellar ,but well lit as has door onto garden, ceiling arched and quite pretty.A 30 min walk from train station if carrying bags, but mostly under cover of trees on route.

Disliked: could have clearer directions as has simular sounding street name as one inside walls of Lucca.Took me awhile to find one pointed in correct direction

Liked: This hotel is outside the old city walls, but very close to walk to tourist info and the old city centre. We also walked around the hotel neighbourhood at night and it was safe and comfortable. We were walking with backpacks, and the distance from the train station was okay. Any longer and I would have preferred a transfer.

Liked: Its more like a 25 minute walk from the station, and when I finally arrived, there was noone at reception to let me in! The dorm room smells like whatever damp smells like, and the toilet didnt work very well. But it was a place to sleep, and it :let me do that very well :)

Liked: Breakfast was 5euro. The toilet only worked sometimes, the shower was extremely tempramental, which meant you had a luke-warm shower for most of the time you were in there.

Liked: Very friendly woman at reception, room has lots of character but is in cellar (with a door and window for ventilation) No kitchen or common area but all beds are single and there is a couch and tv in the room.

Liked: pretty much a hotel that has decided to turn its basement into a hostel. 5 beds. nice enough place. just outside the walls of lucca. can rent bikes from there which is a really good idea. average but not one of the massive fancy hostel complexes but it can be a nice change
