Liked: this is not a hostel so if your looking to meet peiple to party this isnt the place. This is pretty much your own apartment. Its awesome, especially considering the price and how close you are to everything! There is a kitchen in the room and a supermarket and massive food market close by. About 5-10 mins walk to the duomo. Close to the train station also. Really is great value for money!

Disliked: when i arrived here at 2 there was noone here to let me in, just what i needed after a long days travel! Fortunately the guy in the travel shop next door is a legend and called the guy to come let us in but he couldnt get here until 430. So the travel guy let us leave our bags in his shop whilst we went for a walk. The apartment owner hadnt got our reservation email because we only booked the night before so it was semi understandable. The only fault i can give this place is that no one comes to give more toilet paper and empty the bins in the week we were here. It really is like having your own apartment!

Liked: This guesthouse was great. We felt like we had our own apartment in Florence. Our budget private room had a small kitchenette, complete with stove, fridge, pans and dishware, which was awesome for being on a budget in Italy. There were a few cheap supermarkets around the area, so we took advantage of that as well. Really friendly staff as well. And there is air conditioning. =)

Disliked: The location is a little farther from the central area, so we walked a lot. And it was a little difficult to find, but someone was actually waiting for us outside, so that helped. Also when we arrived, the windows were left open, and so a few mosquitoes went inside, which didn't make the nights so pleasant, as we were being constantly bit.

Liked: Gallo Guesthouse is amazing - you are literally booking an bachelor apartment with a private kitchen and bathroom. The showers are new and clean. We even got dishes, pots and pans so we could make our own dinners, instead of paying for restaurants. It was a great place to stay. The owner was very nice and helpful to us. We even got to leave our bags behind for a few hours after checkout.

Disliked: You need to know at what time you're going to be arriving and let the reception know in advance, as they are not open all the time. And it's especially important if arriving late in the day - you may be kissing a locked door until you can phone the owner and have him come over from where he usually lives (by the way, the owner is a really nice and helpful guy).

Liked: Good air-conditioning Good location, everything in easy walking distance

Disliked: Owner was only there for a few hours each day and not always possible to find during that time so was a bit frustrating trying to find him to pay and check-in properly during our stay (a very helpful guy from the travel shop next door showed us in and gave us our key)

Liked: It was a spacious, pleasant and clean place to live at, giving you a "wow this place is awesome" feeling when you enter the room.

Disliked: The reception opens really late and we almost missed our train while waiting for them.

Liked: Very economic en-suite room in Florence, definitely good choice for backpackers like me! Room was clean and tidy, with strong air-conditioner

Disliked: very short reception hour and no lift in the building also quite noisy from the stairs and main entrance to the apartment flat, could be annoying to some people

Liked: Clean room, clean bathroom with towel and soap and shampoo. Refrigerator in the room, and a small kitchen. All you need for sleeping, washing and cooking.

Disliked: The door was weird, too slim but this was not a problem at all.

Liked: Excellent location. Large room. Owner very friendly and welcoming. Provided us with a kettle to use during stay.

Disliked: We stayed for 4 nights but were not provided with a clean towel during that time. The bin was not emptied and we ran out of toilet paper. Unfortunately we were out whenever the owner was around. He has limited hours he is at the property.

Liked: I liked the fully-functioning kitchen, which allowed us to self-cater some of our meals. The room was small, but it felt homey and comfortable.

Disliked: The shower leaked water onto the floor.

Liked: Staff super helpful, friendly, amazing location for a tiny price.

Disliked: Plumbing is a tiny bit noisy, but this might just be a Florentine quirk rather than this hotels fault!

Liked: The guy who runs it is really nice and helpful. Rooms and bathrooms are clean and bright, and the place is pretty centrally located - you can walk to the Duomo within ten minutes. Good value for money when sharing, especially with kitchen included.

Liked: The owner was very nice. The hostel is just 10 minutes by walk from the main station. The hostel is clean, the rooms are big and you got your own bathroom.

Disliked: The first 3 nights were excellent but we had to change our room for the last night and we were not able to sleep that night because we had a double bad with two mattresses which moved the whole time so we were not able to fall asleep. We fall on the slatted frame the whole night. So be careful to get a bed with just one big mattress! And take earplugs with you, you can not sleep in the morning because in Florence is much loud traffic in the morning.

Liked: Nothing

Disliked: The stairway to the gusethouse reception and the rooms were not light up at all, in fact it was in pitch darkness whenever we use the stairway and thats the only way u can get out of the place. During our stay, the toilet of our room had leaking problems and affected the Italian family living right below. The Italian family knocked on the main door of the hostel for the night and in the morning and confronted us, what a scare! The electricity in the room tripped twice in a night after the leaking incident, we move out immediately in the day and in advance (when we already paid for another night) after the terrifying night and experience but the hotel reception is nowhere to be found and contactable on our check out. The worst experience we ever had.
