Liked: The staff were fantastic. The location was in a really easy to find position, right near the train station. The place was very clean and had heaps of space. The facilities were also excellent. Would recommend this one to anyone wanting to visit Florence...

Disliked: Only one downside (Very very minor) We were there during the winter and the hot shower didn't last long especially for both of us...

Liked: We stayed at the newer part which is called Albergo Bencidormi and is more like a hotel than a hostel and is on the second floor of a nearby building to Il Ghiro. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. The bathrooms even had a towel warmer! The hostel was pretty quiet as we were there in January. It was not really a "party" hostel as some are, so this could be positive or negative, depending on what you want. The close location to the train station and to the centre of Florence made it perfect to use as a base for exploring Tuscany by train. The highlight of our stay was Roberto who insisted on carrying our bags up the stairs and did everything in his power to make our stay comfortable (even packing our dishes from dinner in the dishwasher!). The kitchen was pretty basic but excellent coffee was available at all times. We stayed a total of 5 nights and were very comfortable and safe.

Disliked: Not really a dislike, just a comment: The washing machine was at Il Ghiro (other building) and there was no dryer. We had the great experience of hanging our clothes out the Italian way, but being winter, they didn't dry properly. Luckily we had the towel warmer! I would just recommend going to the laundromat which was down the street.

Liked: We loved everything about our stay at Il Ghiro. The location was fantastic and the room was so nice. This was definitely more like staying at a hotel than a hostel. We had a room with a private en suite bathroom which was large with a hairdryer and nice towel. The bed was so comfortable with great bedding. The room was cleaned every day when we got home and looked fantastic. The owners were so welcoming and always available. Would definitely stay here again if we are lucky enough to return to Florence.

Disliked: Nothing at all.

Liked: Nicest hostel I stayed in out of 4 during my time in Europe. Private double room was gorgeous and well-kept. Super comfortable bed and comforters. Very friendly owner who stayed around the hostel until we arrived because I forgot to let them know we would be arriving after hours and would need an entry code! Wow.

Disliked: No complaints whatsoever.

Liked: Nice place to saty, near from the train station, near from the center. The staff is very friendly, but they are not always there. Don\t forget you don\t have breakfast, but it\s near from a lot of restaurants and caffes...

Liked: Warm and welcoming... The owner was so helpful and friendly; the location was fabulous (about three minutes walking from the train station-- central to everything AND quiet). I have stayed at many hostels but never loved one enough to write about it. Wonderful (clean/spacious/equipped) room and bathroom. Above and beyond... Wish we had more time here.

Liked: This property was fantastic! would stay there again anytime. Great size rooms, and so nicely maintained and very clean. The owner was fantastic and as we had limited time in Florence, he showed us exactly what to see and how to get there. Even told us a local restaurant which specialises in traditional food and it was fantastic as well. Great place, would recommend to anyone. Thanks for the great experience!

Liked: The owner is a really nice guy and we had a good chat about some of the local history. The room was quite nice and its great to have the use of a kitchen (there is a fridge, gas cooker and an eating area along one of the walls). Also it is quite a small place so there is not much in the way of noise from other guests.

Disliked: It can't be helped but there was a noise from a generator or something coming from across the street, and a bit of a pong from the drains sometimes. The communal area is not ideal for meeting up with other people, it is basically a big hallway with a computer and doors for the showers, you wouldn't want to hang out there very long.

Liked: Beautiful rooms, Very good location, Friendly and helpful staff. They even let me put a load of washing on for free. This is a very homely hostel. Could have stayed here for ages!

Liked: The host greeted us very kindly and was more than helpful with directions and the use of facilities. Highly recommend to anyone traveling to Florence. I wish all Hostels were as good as II Ghiro!

Liked: Very near to the Train station and the staffs are very helpful. there is plenty of good food and supermarket near this hostel. The best part of this hostel is they provide free usage on their coffee machine which other hostels does not have

Disliked: the hostel is located on the top floor on the building, so please train yourself to be fit and strong so u can carry your heavy luggage up and down. haha

Liked: LOCATION - close to station and attractaions, bars, restaurants OWNER - Extremely helpful and kind, PROPERTY - We were staying in the new part- really beautifully renovated: modern, stylish, clean, light and safe. KITCHEN: fully equipped with all mod cons and free tea and coffee/ basic cooking ingredients, ROOM: spacious, nice bathroom with h/dryer, very comfy bed, heating is good!. INTERNET - Computer available for surfing in the common area - i had my laptop used the WIFI in my room - fast connection. LOVED our stay - would defo recommend and come back in the future.

Liked: amazing location and very helpful staff. The newer building for private rooms is amazing with great facilities, and only on the 1st (American 2nd) floor, which saves a lot of pain bringing luggage up. Great access to kitchen and daily cleansed bathrooms. Florence is a small town and easily walkable, the location by SMN and the San Lorenzo markets made it absolutely perfect.

Liked: Muito bom. Tem televisão, banheiro no quarto, ar-condicionado, local para lavar e secar roupas. O quarto é novo (mobilia) e os donos são bem simpáticos e prestativos. Nota 10.

Liked: Great place to stay - just a short walk from the main Train station and we were only a short walking distance to many of the usual tourist places. We would definitely stay there again.

Disliked: The shower had some mould and could do with a bit of scrubbing but apart from that everything else was very tidy and clean.

Liked: It's a great place to stay in. It's clean and modern and the staff is very friendly. It is near all the important sites in the historical center of Florence. Less than 5 minutes from Firenze SMN Station on foot and just around the corner from San Lorenzo, the place to get leather goods. It's also less than 15 minutes on foot to the Academy and to the Duomo.

Disliked: I did not dislike anything about the place.
