Liked: While this is not a place to meet others (only private rooms), the location right near the train station and friendliness of the gentleman who received us was well worth the stay. When we arrived he helped us to get a reservation to the Uffizi for the very next morning and also called his brother to get the low-down on a Fiorentina-Liverpool Champion's League soccer match that was going on that very night. He showed us where we could go buy tickets to the match only hours before kickoff. The wifi was easy to use (some other hostels have complicated instructions) and the room was big, clean and comfortable. Highly recommend if you are looking for a private ensuite room in Florence!

Liked: The hostel has an excellent location with a couple of really good restaurants in the same street and is closeby all attractions, the station etc. Preferred Room 1 although it is a shared bathroom to Room 5 which is very dark and claustrophobic as it has no proper window.

Liked: Francesco is an extremely friendly and helpful host. He answered every question we asked of him and went out of his way to find answers for us. For example where bike shops were in Florence. He also carried my 20kg bag up and down 3 floors for me and smiled the whole way. There was no way I was going to be allowed to carry it! I would definitely recommend this place to other travellers. It was clean and tidy and the TV had an english programme!

Liked: It was so clean and the owners care for it with a lot of attention. The staff are so friendly and helpful - answering queries and carrying heavy cases up the stairs. It has a really relaxed feel. The facilities are good and weel looked after.

Liked: This was the best hostel I have ever stayed at. Friendly staff, safe area surrounded by many restaurants and shops, close to the train station, quiet, clean and spacious. I would definitly recommend this place to everyone and would gladly stay here again.

Liked: Even though we only stayed there for a short period, we really enjoyed it! The staff were extremely kind and eager to offer help at any time. They immediately made us feel welcome. The area is also very convenient in its proximity to places as well as safe. The room was cosy and friendly with plenty of space for the 2 of us. The bathroom was clean and everything worked very well. We really appreciated the fact that there was kitchen area as well!Overall, we would definately like to come back.

Liked: We really enjoyed our stay at Il Ghiro. Francesco was very friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. The room was big and roomy and very clean (cleaning products did make the room smell like Jolly Ranchers). Availability of AC was very much appreciated. Definitely highly recommended.

Liked: This is a fantastic place to stay. It's only a 5 min walk to main train station and small supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, markets and main attractions. Francesco was the most welcoming, friendly and helpful person we have met on our travels and will do whatever he can to make your stay enjoyable. Our room at the front (Room 1) was lovely, airy and with air con. Bathroom was clean and nice. Bed comfy. Free wifi in rooms and free computer in reception area. Would definitely return and recommend to others. Big thanks to Francesco for booking our Ducati Museum tour for us!

Liked: Has most of what I need. Air con, internet, ensuite. But slight problem with finding the place as the directions on Hostel Bookers is a bit off and there are no lifts . So it is 4 flights of stairs before you get there. Overall experience : i would come back again.

Liked: Francesco the owner of the guest house is fantastic! The location is perfect! Free washing machine, internet and kitchen facilities are great. We intended on staying 4 night but loved it so much we stayed an extra night. We would highly recommend staying at IL Ghiro as you will not be disappointed. My only advice is to lock your things up safely as you would in any other hostel and enjoy Florence!
